Discover the People Behind the Voices at the 2011 European Battle.net Invitational

You’re going to see a lot of different faces at the 2011 European Battle.net Invitational on August 6-7, whether you’re at the event in Warsaw or watching the free live HD stream. You’ll also hear a lot of different voices, as we have a large selection of skilled shoutcasters and commentators bringing you all the action. But just who are the people behind these voices?

Just by looking at the list of players and teams taking part, we already know how awesome the Invitational is going to be. To make sure that’s the case we’ve gathered some of the best presenters out there to guide you and to offer their insights throughout the whole event.

Let’s discover the people behind the voices that will accompany you during this thrilling journey to fame and glory. On the free live HD stream:

Ben ‘MrBitter’ Nichol Kevin ‘RotterdaM’ van der Kooi Joe ‘Joe’ Miller Salome Soe ‘Soetchi’ Gschwind-Penski
  • Ben ‘MrBitter’ Nichol will be our guide through the battles in the Koprulu sector. Ben was born in the United States and became famous with his show called ‘12 Weeks with the Pros’ and its sequel, ‘The Next 12 Weeks’. He also shoutcasted some epic matches during his NASL commentary and he’s now one of the most likable stars in the eSports community.
  • Kevin ‘RotterdaM’ van der Kooi will be our second StarCraft II shoutcaster. Kevin is a Dutch professional gamer who has played in several Warcraft III and StarCraft II tournaments. He’s also ESL’s main commentator for StarCraft II and you can have a look at one of his productions here: ‘RotterdaM University’.
  • Joe ‘Joe’ Miller will be your main host: this Englishman doesn’t really need an introduction, but since he’s so awesome, we’re going to give him one anyway. Joe was one of the world’s first commentators and he shoutcasted many tournaments during his career, including DreamHack, World Series of Video Games and the Intel Extreme Masters.
  • Salome Soe ‘Soetchi’ Gschwind-Penski will be taking us right into the fray in World of Warcraft’s bloodied arenas. Born in Switzerland, but currently living in Germany, Soe is a member of the renowned German World of Warcraft Guild ‘For The Horde’. She’s also showed the eSports community her artistic skills with several speed drawings, which you can enjoy on her site.

If you’re one of those people who will follow the action live in the Multikino within the Zlote Tarasy commercial center in the heart of the Polish capital of Warsaw, you’ll be able to enjoy live commentary of the matches from skilled presenters.

  • Jakub ‘Kumbol’ Misiura and Mateusz ‘Tajgeer’ Malek will commentate our World of Warcraft Arena matches. These two young, yet experienced, commentators have both been active members of the Polish eSports community since 2007 and they’re now cooperating with WoWCenter.pl.
  • Michal ‘Carmac’ Blicharz and Marcin ‘itzMorglum’ Lelontko will be our war reporters from the battlefields of StarCraft II. Michal has been working closely with ESL since 2009 and he’s the product manager of one of the most successful European events: the Intel Extreme Masters. Marcin is a veteran professional commentator and you can have a taste of his shoutcasting skills by tuning into his dedicated StarCraft II channel.

This incredibly skilled team of shoutcasters and commentators are bound to keep you entertained for the whole event, so be sure to follow the StarCraft II and World of Warcraft tournaments through our free live HD stream!

@jhawƙ: day[9] sucks @ commenting. He is too overexcited, he isn't capable of calmly commenting on the game. Even his brother comments better and more naturally than him.

@VladŢepeş: I'd rather listen to someone who even gets excited at all (compared to DJWheat..) It adds more overall excitement of the match + he's the best SC analytic(?) out there.

@VladŢepeş:

Interesting comment.

You don`t have to like the commentary but that`s your personal opninion and in my opinion, your opinion is biased. Day9`s commentary is one of the best out there, very fluent, vitally creative and backed up by penetrating insight and deep understanding of the game.

I think you can`t appreciate Day9`s commentary because of some lack in understanding and discernment abilities.

I've only heard/watched MrBitter, he's a great caster! As long as Husky isn't casting, I'm happy. Gonna be awesome to watch anyway.

While I really think MrBitter is a great pick (he's just so sophisticated!) I don't know about RotterdaM.
In his past performances he was always a little too a aggressive and often insulting towards the players and his co-casters, and while I really don't mind a little teasing, that was a little too much...
I just hope he's changed his attitude.

Question - are the casters on site going to commentate in polish or english? They all are Poles but I sure hope it's gonna be in English, can't stomach polish casting.

Totalbiscuit actually tweeted afew weeks ago that he realised he was double booked for the weekend, so had to turn down the EUBNETI. Blizzard love the shoutcast scene, so im sure they will of picked some awesome people to cover the tournament, so look forward to hearing the 4 of them cast
