Diablo III

Coming Soon: Battle.net Balance

Coming Soon: Battle.net Balance

Soon, we’ll be introducing a new feature called Battle.net Balance that will give players an alternate way to purchase Blizzard products and services directly through their Battle.net account. Players will be able to "charge up" their Battle.net Balance using a variety of payment methods, and then use their Battle.net Balance to buy services like World of Warcraft character transfers, digital products, and more. Players will also be able to use their Battle.net Account Balance to buy items and store their earnings from Diablo III’s currency-based auction house once the game is released.

We’ll be rolling out the new Battle.net Balance feature in the weeks ahead -- but in the meantime, check out our Battle.net Balance FAQ to find out more about how it’s going to work.

I don't see why you could not cash out? At least if there is the same fee involved as for selling. You just need another account or a friend who you can trust and sell your items to, let's say for exactly as much as your current balance. After that purchase, the "seller" friend cashes out via paypal. Binge, cashed out after all. ???

@Rocklobster: "I don't see why you could not cash out?"
No cash out so the Chinese won't invade the game and ruin it forever, making a Farm Heaven becouse the middleman between getting the item and having the money is removed.
*note : When I say Chinese I mean the Chinese style of farm not to any Chinese people in particular or in general.*
Also I belive is pretty bad !@# that if I will manage to get a uber epic item in D3 and sell it so I can change factions on my WOW char. A good thought indeed Blizzard!

For people affraid of being hacked?? Its linked to you PayPal account so by "hacking" battle.net will not mean you will get hacked on PayPal or your email.. Secure your own accounts as good as possible and dont make easy Secret Questions.. cause you tend to forget, the easier it is for you to remember the easier it will be "hacked".. It's your own responsibility.. Get a Mobile Authenticator, they will get you password (maybe) but they will never be able to log in. It's not that hard people.. Again good job..

@wootTeHfook:

Everything that can go wrong -- will go wrong. DEAL WITH IT.
-Murphy's Law

People; stop spending countless of hours looking over you shoulder, if you get hacked then you get hacked, do what wootTeHfook said; secure your account to the max if you're paranoid, Security Questions, HANDHELD authenticator, and a 400 letter/digit Password. The mobile authenticator CAN be hacked, so don't use it, it's harder(irony) to hack a handheld one.

Things get hacked, people loose money, so what? It happens, it's unavoidable and sure it sucks.. But yet again; deal with it.

Thumbs up, wooTeHfook!

It's not greedy or asking for money, cause you can spend it anyway you like it and it works both ways, sell items for points visa versa..

Any known D2 players knows what happend to the D2 community thanks D2JSP and they took a big chunk out of the market by making a money deposit and using "forum Gold" as trade mark.. This is the smartest thing they could have done! Good Job Blizzard, keep up the good work..

On the other hand, does this mean a person could sell ingame items on the Diablo III auction house, earn balance, and pay their wow account off this? XD

No offence, but i think this wont prove to be such a good idea, why you ask? Well thats quite simple, what if your account gets hacked? Whould such a criminal actually have acces to the currency you use to upgrade games, buy features, and game time? Whould that mean that the money you stored this way could just be spent on ingame items, witch, after hacked, could be sold for a good price ingame?
Its not that im one of the usual haters, actually i dont mind the idea, but at least i want my money to be safe.

I don't want to link a credit card to my account so if there's another way then that works for me. If you don't like it then it's not essential to use it. So I think basically it's fine with everyone.

I donno what is new in this. I mean i was able to use various methods to charge up my balance and buy games already.
I know for blizz is really important top milk money from players, but i would brag more about actual game features that got implemented instead a features that is useless for 90% of the player base. Right now an announcement like this makes me more angry then happy. I mean this is why the game is not getting released ? For the sake of money making ? Just raise the sell price and add the feature later.

@Tudi: Or they are doing their best to release a top quality game.

There is no NEED TO use it so that's great. Bad thing is if You use balance you can't cash out via paypal so I would prefer use only paypal auctions when You sell to cash out with extra fee even.
