Diablo® III

WD pet build

Before the expansion, WD's pets are used mainly for tanking. Pure pet builds are usually low on damage.

However, with the addition of the Passive Midnight Feast (as well as new gear that buff pet damage), pets can do good damage now!

This is the build I am currently using:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/witch-doctor#bcUTYl!VRWd!YZcYYc
(Sometimes switch to Leeching Beasts for more health regen.)
It is actually a mixture of Pet build and Fetish-Firebat build. Spirit Walk is used for survivability against elites. However, if you are confident enough, feel free to switch it to Big Bad Voodoo or Soul Harvest for extra damage.

Playstyle is similar to Fetish-Firebat build, except that your five dogs and Garg are doing more significant damage. If you have Mask of Jeram (pets do 75% more damage) legendary voodoo mask and Tusker and Theo (pets attack 50% faster) legendary gloves, the damage will be even more amazing!

Below are some youtube videos I recorded:

Actually the build is more oriented for general farming but still works fine for boss fights:

Thinkin of trying D3 again, i left when the real money AH destroyed the game so ive been away quite some time now.

Allways loved "pet classes" so how is WD for a casual player who likes his pets to do the dirty work? Mostly solo but i'd imagine some MP in the mix too.

Only problem I have with the pet build is the fact it's almost essential for you to use bats to spawn fetishes effectively, and I hate the bat skill. Thanks for the build though, I may try and suck it up and give it a try.

Hey guys, I agree with you Bambino that only usefull and efficient skill to spawn Fetishes is firebats with Vampire bats rnue (I live that skill fortunately) :). But the really important thing is your gem in weapon. Your pets benefit more from weapon dmg (ruby) than from emerald. I switched to ruby today and the result is obvious, they are doing way more dmg. I lost more than 100K DPS ( I have like 960K DPS with emerald and almost 800K with ruby I think) But screw sheet DPS, the hidden DPS is the true :). And with Mask of Jeram, Tasker and Theo for pet builds are essential. My pets killed Ghom and SK themselves without my help, only with enchantress and with BBV with slamdance - thats the blast. And with Starmetal Kukri weapon fetishes proc BBV so I can spam it every few seconds which gives me tons of DPS I also have high attack speed which is essential for spawning fetishes quickly after you die. So yes, pet build are realy I mean realy awesome. Just use ruby for more pet dmg and you will be happy, screw sheet DPS guys. WD is a super tanky pet killing machine. I am faming T1 only, in group T2 without any issues... When I play alone T1 my pets are melting elites, I have always more like 10 Fetished its freaking awesome and I love it :D

You have sick gear btw Bambino, love that weapon - realy high DPS.. I hope I will drop teh rest of 70lvl items and reach milion DPS with emerald in gem ( I have like 960 with emerald in my weapon so it wont be hard) :), but seriously ruby is better for pets build ;)

Thanks! Yeah, I understand the ruby is a lot better for pet builds, but I'm going for a mixture of both pet build and acid cloud DPS at the moment. I usually switch to a ruby when I run Vampire Bats. :)

I'm just farming for the 4 set Zunimassa's at the moment, once I get the full set I'll probably use ruby in my weapon 100% of the time.

Question: Are pets not affected by critical hit damage? I thought they just cared about total damage, not caring if it comes from speed/crit or increased base. I might have to make some adjustments...

In short: no, pets have fixed +50% critical damage.

They're already extremely strong anyways, so it's not a huge deal. :)
