Diablo® III

Anything but Monk

I was so excited for monk but after wathcing these videos (links below) I am feeling like picking anything but monk.

After playing for zillions of hours the looks of my hero will be crappier than a low level barb wtf is that?
How can Monk look this awful in late game; did bliz do this so that no one will go for Monk?
Am I the only one thinkin this way. I mean in the end diablo is all about the loot.

From coolest to crap here is my list for armor outfits.

1.Barb
2.Demon Hunter
3.Witch Doctor
4. Wizard

????.Monk????? not even remotely cool maybe except for that samurai looking outfit.

Who cares what it looks like when you enjoy playing the class.

Actually, I do see his point - if he doesn't like the look of the gear at the end it's going to impact his enjoyment because you spend so much time looking at your dood. I suggest that the best way forward is to allow people to wear gear in 'appearance' slots, like a lot of MMOs - after all, it's likely that you'll find at least one attractive gear set for each class.

I think the main problem is that it's all about aesthetic choice - there's no way they could make all gear appeal to all people.

Dont lie to yourself. You maybe right if you are planning to beat the game once in normal mode and move on.

But for those of us live breathe Diablo looks are a very very important part of the game, specially now with all these shiny armors in D3 i do not want to walk around in my pink tier 16 clown outfit, with all other players looking like badass demonlords.

To be honest i have no clue what the armors look like, i really do not care.

I do understand it might be important for you and others.

I wasn't bothered about having 'appearance' slots for armor until I saw all the armor designs. Now I really hope it is something that becomes available later down the line. I love the look of DH T13 and T15 armor sets over T16.

This is so true, at least with the appearance slots you could keep gear stats but have the look of your favorite pieces. This combined with being able to dye armor could really add in a new level of diversity in terms of how each players character looks.

Unfortunately I don't see this as being something they would do anytime soon but I hope it would be considered further down the line.

I hate the helms, but then again monks will wear Spirit Stones in the head slot ingame. :)

The rest is okay.

I think the monk sets looked cool. Some of the barbarian ones kinda shot over the edge in my opinion. Let's hope the dyes help some parts to look better, I agree that some armor sets were plain ugly (this is for all classes, not just for monk)...

You know you can color your armor, do you? There is also a color which makes your gear invisible. :)
So if you don't like your head gear just paint it with "invisible color".

Monks might just be the best class to rush through beta right now. I think their damage and survival is insane compared to a class like a Wizard for example. ^.^

Remember you can dye it your own colour if you don't like the basic colour.

So basically what the guy a few posts over me wrote :p

A) there will be dyes to customize your gear
B) you think every class will have just one set of armour?....umm...ok...
you know this isn't WoW, right? They're not "tier" sets or anything...
C) again, you think this is the only monk set for endgame? rare items (which will most probably be better), possibility of more than just one unique/set item per slot, etc...let's ignore all that, and instead choose to NOT play the class because we don't like...one...set.......visually.....wow.

dying will make it look slighlty better but from what i saw so far monk is worst looking for sure not just one set...all the sets are just plain awful and if you think they look cool than you will probably shiet your pants after seeing DH and BARB armors; sadly monk armors dont even compare, anyone with a slight taste in anything will agree with me,
I am sure there will be many many more armor pieces in the game but what they reveal atm is supposed to give you an idea of what your character will look like end game.
And I dont like it.

This is probably the THE thread in which to say the following:

It's a matter of taste whether you like it or not.

Personally I think the armor tiers for all classes look badass. For example the monk? I really like tiers 9,10, 13 and 15. But again: that is my opninion and my taste. If somebody else doesn't like it: that is unfortunate for you but also probably something you have to live with.

The point of taste is to have a unique one, and not be in agreement with everyone else's. You can like whatever you want, just don't assume everyone else has "terrible" taste because they don't agree with you - they have different taste...

Looks awesome IMO. Fits monk very good, because he's an agile fighter. Don't know what armor you'd given to monk but heavier certainly would't fit in his role.
