Diablo® III

Sleet Storm questions

First: Would channeling Sleet Storm trigger the Cold Blood passive by itself? The tooltip of Sleet Storm doesnt say it 'chills' enemies (required by Cold Blood), but rather that it "slows" them...

Second: How do Critical Hits work with channeled spells? Is it determined on the initial cast or per every tick? That is, would channeling Sleet Storm have the possibility of granting me several crits during on the same 'cast'?

Thanks!

Yes and Yes.
i'm not 100% sure, but i'm 99% sure, unless someone comes and says he knows for certain it doesn't work that way.

Hello.

...comes along the way....

First yes. Or the wording would be completely wrong for Cold Blood.

Second. Channeled skills can crit and do have the chance on every "tick" to do so. Only dots have a crit/no crit mechanic where crits are nor counted as real crits.

On another note, do you think being staggered(interupted) by enemy blows will be a big issue for a Sleet Storm centric build?

And also: Would Sleet Storm tick faster with increased attack speed?

Hello.

1) Knockback does interrupt it. If a mob hits hard enough to stagger you it would most likely do the same.

2) Yes, and it consumes more AP.

What I want to know is does it work with arcane dynamo for the full duration of the channel or just the first tick?

Hello.

As nobody has seen AD yet we can only speculate. But I'm personally very sure that it does affect the whole time until you end for what ever reason. If not AD would be one of the worst passives the wiz has.

I Personally think it won't effect the whole channel, and it would be quite !@#$ - or designated at powering up meteor-like spells.

I don't think "it would be %^-* otherwise" is a good reason to assume something isnt that way.
some stuff ARE !@#$, we all know that ;p

That being said, as Rhaloz said, we don't know yet. gotta wait to see @ release.

What would you guys prefer; I was thinking combining Sleet Storm with Slow Time (either +10% AS rune or +20%damage rune)... But with stagger being a possible issue I might have to get Frost Nova instead...

Also, anyone know if stagger is prevented with higher armor? That is, is it damage output or damage done that triggers it?

Hello.

If it follows the logic of d2: stagger happens if one damage hit exceeds a certain amount of your health. High armor and health should help.
