Diablo® III

Think of a new class

How many of you have the imagination to create a new class, with a theme, a quote, a story, a name, at least 3 active skills and 2 passives, main resource and what kind of weapons it would use!

example:-

Name: Shadow/Shadow Assassin

Theme: An assassin class that's based on illusions, mind control, and shadow power for both offence and defense.

Quote: "You mind is your strongest weapon..let's see you unarmed"

Story: A secret society of assassins and mercs who have chosen the shadow and manipulations forces to aid them in their quests, but after the goals of their society have shifted and they started doing jobs for demons killing and kidnapping helpless ones like children and women, a band of those assassins decided to turn their backs against their once-upon-a-time brothers and sisters and use the shadow training they received to fight the hordes of demons and help the helpless in an act of redemption.

Resource: Illusion "offence"/Shadow "Defense"

Weapons: Dual Spectral Daggers/Soul Spears "two handed"

How it works: They have a set of abilities that create illusions to aid them, either a chance on hit or an aoe spell that creates more illusions, the non-chance spells could have long cooldowns and non-spammable. Their main resource "Illusion" could be filled by the number of illusions you have outstanding, and could be used to fuel their offensive skills and CC skills in battle. Their other resource "Shadow" is their armor, it enhances their defense by absorbing outstanding illusions to convert them into a Shadow shield (the "shadow" bar could be next to the health bar and it could work like the "mana shield" from other games, blocking a high percentage of the damage taken and depleting the "shadow")
So it's up for the player whether they choose to play offensive and keeping their outstanding illusions to fuel their more powerful spells, or to absorb those illusions to enhance their defense but sacrifice the CC and AOE spells they could use instead.

Spells "basic examples":-

Spectral Strike: A single target primary attack with a high attack speed and crit chance. Each hit has a chance to summon an illusion to fight with you.

Manipulating Strikes: An "Illusion" spender that effects all targets around the player, the enemies become slowed for 5 seconds. Within those 5 seconds, if the player uses a primary spell, all enemies effected by the Manipulating Strike will have a mirror image of the player summoned in front of them that will perform the same spell the player used "only primary" doing full damage.

Children of the shadows: Consumes all outstanding illusions needed to fill your shadow power to the max. Each consumed illusion has a chance to summon a shadow to replace it, the shadow doesn't generate "illusion" but it has higher chance to crit and slowly regenerates "Shadow" for the player.

Living Mirrors "passive": Illusions have a chance on hit to create other illusions.
Dim Darkness "passive": Increases the maximum shadow power.

EDIT:-

I did this just for fun, and i'd appreciate any comments, but would love to see what other people have in mind, as a dream class!
I will not however appreciate trolls! If someone wants to post their ideas of characters i would love it, but dont give me a "Chuck Norris" class or whatever!
Thank you..

What about Angels?

At some point the dev team wanted to make the demon hunter a demon, but they went back to human for lore reasons. However an Angel would fit, since they can take any form.

New class is limiting.

They could also introduce a new race like the suggested Angel, or a Demon, a shapeshifter, an elemental being.

Bit like those console fighting games where you can control not only humans but all kinds of strange creatures, all with their own skills.

i brought the idea of the shapeshifter in another thread, people didn't like it!! neither the idea of a demon! it's the idea of humans fighting their own battles, an angel class seems hard to balance with other classes because in diablo angels are so powerful. it's also hard to make a demon who fights for humans!

i speak for myself when i say i dont like the idea of non-human classes! i like it more when they're human but have supernatural powers and skills!

i would love to see one of your suggestions as a class however, just to see what you have in mind ;p what kinda abilities it would have and stuff!

It would be nice to play the game from an evil perspective...

Perhaps a corrupted individual who possesses daemonic powers?

The Pimp. He would play similar to the old Necromancer, having minions and throwing curses at others - with the difference that the minions collect gold for you and your class gear is limited to purple fur coats.

but he would be corrupted! why would he help humans??

Name: Host

Theme: A once proud knight for the fallen kingdom, this warrior was possessed by a demonic entity and now is locked in a constant struggle to retain his sanity, while seeking a way to remove the demonic entity slowly eating into his soul.

Quote: "I am still alive, I am still "I"."

Weapons: Melee weapons only.

Resource: Insanity. Skills used increase insanity bar (different skills increase the bar differently), for every extra 25% of the bar you deal 5% more damage, take 5% more damage and gain 5% life steal. At 100% you lose control of your character and randomly attack for 3 seconds, resetting the bar. Insanity decays over time, with additional insanity decay from taking damage and can be dropped by specific abilities.

Abilities:

  • Decapitate: Swing your weapon with a demonic strength dealing 230% damage to the single enemy. Non-boss targets below 20% total HP are instantly killed. Generates 20 Insanity.
  • Expunge: After a 1.5 second delay, bone spikes springs out of your skin dealing 290% weapon damage as physical to all enemies in a small radius and stunning affected targets for 1.5 seconds. You are covered in spikes for 5 seconds dealing 20% weapon damage as physical to the enemies that strike you in melee. Generates 40 Insanity.
  • Iron Will: Reduces your Insanity by 70% and prevents insanity gain for the next 3 seconds. Breaks Insanity and all CC and makes you immune to CC while Iron Will lasts. 30 seconds CD.
  • Hellfire: Release a wave of fire slowly that moves from you to the target location burning everything in the path for 170% weapon damage as Fire and scorching a path in the ground. Your movement speed over the scorched ground is increased by 30%. Generates 15 Insanity.
  • Shatter: Lunge your weapon into the ground with such force that it knocks back all surrounding enemies and causes random pieces of ceiling to collapse or ground randomly crack open dealing 470% weapon damage as physical. Generates 35 Insanity. 15 seconds cooldown
  • Surrender to Darkness: Allow your demon to take over instantly gaining 100 insanity and loosing sanity for 3 seconds. Enemies around will not attack you and you can not attack. Regenerate 20% of your total health every second, while the effect lasts. When the effect wears off your insanity is reduced by 50%.
  • Raging Charge: Charge through the enemies towards a target location dealing 30% weapon damage to everything in the path, then charge back to the original spot dealing 60% weapon damage and charge again to the target location dealing 90% weapon damage. Every charge counts as an attack for proc purposes. Generates 25 Insanity.

an angel class seems hard to balance with other classes because in diablo angels are so powerful.

    We're talking angels, not archangels

and by the way, how doesn't a human capable of defeating the 3 major lords of hell and two of their lesser brethren all by himself qualify as "powerful"? =D

    mmm, a point i can't argue with :P
maybe if they made an expansion with 2 new classes that are a demon and an angel coming from a band of demons and angels who decided to aid humans to decide their own faith! but still, i don't see that as a very good choice in adding classes or building up the lore!

and as i said before, this is my opinion! i could be the ONLY one who disagrees with you, and i could be the biggest fan of those classes if they ever get made! It's just hard for me to imagine them coming to life!

  • Awsome! this is what i want from everyone (A), thanks :D

Not going to write details but only the general idea:

    The Demonologist

A class who's primary skills are those of shift his form into that of demons and use this new forms to fight. Or being able to convert regular demons into minions, and support himself with a type of spell casting that relates mostly to dark arts, like sacrificing the living and the nearly dead.

There could be 3 main shapes, each with different advantages:

Hellish Hound: Fast and brutal kind of demonic dog that leaps with viscous attacks and can easily move in or out of a fight.

    Incubus/Succubus
: A type of form that allows easier manipulation of other demons and enemies, as well as relying on physical weapons to aid them in combat.

The Brute: A large type of an incredibly strong demon but rather slow, effective against large group of foes and resistant to most of the elements.

    Druid is a obvious one.

Shapeshifter. Melee oriented, with some ranged spells. cc, healing.

    The possibilities are endless

    Fallen Angel
    some back story :D

Angel fell, found himself surrounded with darkness no way to escape but to accept it.
as the fallen angel tries to remember who he is, there was a whisper saying "you have fallen, ^@#&* ( his name ) now you must find your destiny.''
as he struggles to get on his feet he felt something dark inside of him a new power, he thought it was a dream.
^@#&* will travel around the world studying about his powers and seeking the truth about himself.

    about the class :

uses black magic and health as resource.

all skills give him life steal on critical hit.( since he is using his health as an resource )

can summon demons or enslave "wild" ones.

have both aoe and single target spells:

bolt of darkness : cost 3% health deals 250% damage as black magic. reduce targets resistance from magic hits for 5 sec.

shadow rain : cost 25% health and 1.5% for each second channeling deals 345% damage as black magic and slows demons ( only demons ) for 15% for 3 sec.

corrupted angel armor : each time you use black magic spells you get a shield that can absorb 8% of the damage you dealt with that spell. lasts for 25 sec.
(Rune idea for this skill : recover 100% of the absorbed damage)

    Passives

blood pact : increase damage done by 1.5% for each 5% health missing.

boiled blood : increase health regen when under 60% health.

sacrifice : kill the demon you posses and gain 25% of his maximum health.

just some numbers with enough time you can make something awesome from it.

Wouldn't it be cool if, when you finish Hell, you get to chose to be transformed into either an angel or demon and then tackle NM? The background being that upon finishing Hell both the light and dark side of the eternal conflict wanted you to join their ranks but you still decided to go on fighting your own battle.

I've always liked the idea of casters who use their blood as a resource "blood magic"! but i don't see this class as being an angel at all!! the only "angelic" thing about it is that it's an angel!! and that's it! :/ if it was a demon who possessed a person but that person's will against the demon was too strong so they became one, that would be a much better idea!
