Seems i'm not alone. I'm 100% certain i chose europe becasue it was set to americas from the start and i changed it. But now my char from ysterday is on the american servers. Oh and all my achievements disappeared, but don't care much about that.

BETA PLAYERS, pay attention to your region. If you change the region while you are LOGGED IN, it does not refresh itself. Log out, change your region and log in. Thats how it works, for me atleast :)

Hello, Pretty sure something went wrong on your end. I also checked I was on europe server and I was. During my first couple hours of play I sent numerous invites to friends. I can only see those friends when I am logged in on the EU servers. And since friends list are region specific last time I checked the only logical conclusion is that I was playing on the EU server when I sent those invites. But my char is on the american server now. FRom your own FAQ on your site: Do my Real ID and BattleTag™ friendships carry over to other game regions? Real ID and BattleTag friendships are region-specific, so you will need to re-establish your existing friendships in each play region. In addition, players are only able to communicate with each other and see each other’s status when they are playing in the same game region. So either something went wrong and my char switched to US, or my friends list switched to EU. |

happened to me too! damn!

Same problem here!

OMFG just found out it happened to me as well!
I'm from EU, bought EU game, clean install, after 2 days of play just found out that I was playing on Americas region all the time! The game never asked me to choose and I started without even looking at the options. AMERICAS region was the default setting for the EU game. WTF Blizzard? I demand 1 free character migration, IMMEDIATELY! |

Same thing here. Game Options showed EU when I was creating my char and now I have found it on the USA-Server.
|
Same problem happend to me last night. Exactly the same thing here! I still cant connect to american server to have a look at my heroes. Plz get this fixed. I am pretty shure too that i switched my region to EU before starting to play. |

I have very similar issue (see here: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4211601885 ) , except that my character is no where to be found now (not on anther region)
And I am also 100% sure my character was created on EU. Because when I created that character, the US server is yet online!

I am really disappointed in the behaviour of this retail game. I pre-ordered my copy and got around to installing and playing it yesterday evening. I spent a good 4 or 5 hours playing through Act1, without realising I was on "Americas" region. Now when I login on my second machine to play, after installing, my character is missing. I go into options and see its set to Europe.
I was NEVER asked on my first machine about what region to use, and just started the game. Now I can't co-op with friends here in the EU and have to restart a new character on the EU region. Absolutely shocking for a retail game. For a company with such a good track record of having near perfect retail releases I expected more. I am extremely disappointed in Blizzard for wasting 4 - 5 hours of my time on a character I can't enjoy playing co-op with others. What can be done about this? |

Terrible, Blizzard. Just utterly terrible.
I can only assume this current maintenance on US servers have atleast something to do with this issue, and that a free character server transfer is in the works. |
|
There being a problem isn't an issue, but considering the attitude of "It's not broken" and "We're not going to be bothered to do anything about it" is bull. I know for a fact that I created my character on the EU server, as I check these things before playing. So there IS a problem, and Blizzard need to actually think of why and sort it.

What makes things even worse for me now is that now with my character created on the wrong region (Americas), I cannot login to the America's to even play this character "Single player". Utter rubbish. Its giving me an Error 3003 when trying to login.
What a waste of my money. If Blizzard want to move to an online only method of gaming, then they need to do it right. Not this kind of rubbish on launch week. I can't even login to the servers where my character is now hosted, and added to that the game client defaulted to the wrong region for me. That option is locked away under two or three menu layers, so its not something that everyone will go and check on first play. The first hint I got was that my game was slightly laggy. Which is another negative about the game - it lags because of network latency, even playing it "Single player". Really disappointed. |
