Diablo® III

No South African Servers...

Hi Guys, i have been playing on a 3G connection and it has been relativly ok'ish - ONLY with a good 100% signal and with almost no signal cut over between the different "bands" -3G,HSUPS,HSDPA etc.

Pretty stupid having to constantly be connecting to a EU server.

have done a bit of googling and came across this - http://diablo3standalone.blogspot.com/

i am sure and hopeful at some point there will be a "patch" to be allowed to play offline and then when connecting to the internet are able to upload if required stats and character, seems alot more feasible.

The game went to hell for me last night, started getting pings of up to 2000ms so couldn't play single player anymore. We should have our own servers if we are going to be required to log into European servers to play SINGLE PLAYER.

Furion
I have not noticed any lag what so ever, its perfectly play able from SA, Next time maybe do a bit of home work before complaining

Yeah I can't complain about playing a singleplayer game at 2000ms, if I was playing online with other Europeans in the server I would expect higher latencies but I'm playing by my god damn self. Do a little thinking before you comment on threads.

This should at least have an offline mode, I want a constantly stable game through-out single-player, as I said my ms went up to 2000 on my 4mb unshaped line and I couldn't play the single player, I am the only one using my connection so I know nothing was downloading and I hate relying on the stability of my connection and the stability of a European server, half way across the world to play the game by myself.

Don't even know why I'm bringing this up seeing as Blizzard doesn't listen to their fans.

i'm in europe and i play in americas server just to get along with my friends
i get around 450ms average ping and i yet find its very playable?

The game is playable for me up to 450ms, but I start noticing a bit of lag which takes away from the single player experience.

Uploading offline character stats wouldn't work as people would cheat and mess up the Auction system, Blizzard should do what they did with DII and have offline characters and Online characters.

sad thing is that you are so used to blizzard screwing you, that you accept it & by the looks of it, enjoy it... not every1 can afford a 4mb line....

blizzard should follow in EA footsteps & realize that SA doesnt just have 100 online players

Well I get 300ms and yes the game is an unplayable mess, not to mention the horrible graphics that came with it. I'll give it a week, hopefully there should be some improvements, updates on the way.

And what the hell is up with having to be online just to play the single player? And with lag, the main reason why I don't even play online games.

You don't need a 4Mb line, even 512Kb will do. Remember it is only 4Mb or whatever to your exchange.
I got 3G by the way.

n00b question... how do I check my ping?

There is a bar in the lower right corner next to the mana bulb, just hover your mouse over it.

200ms on a 1meg line. Webafrica uncapped ( they have always had the best latency for online gaming)

R189 for the data ( they just dropped it by R100 cause of Mwebs price decrease)

Normal price paid to telkom for the line. Thats a total of R478.

4mb uncapped = R1000

1mb line will give you THE EXACT same latency online that a 4mb line will. If you are not using your 4mb line for a lot of downloads it is a complete waste of over R500!

The latencies on D3 are currently higher than what they should be, but that is server lag from Blizz at the moment.

I would give it another week for things to stabilize before you worry about your in game ms :)

Peace

I know which is why I think it's BS that we are all forced to connect to European servers, at least give us an offline mode. If I wanted to play online which I doubt I will, then I wouldn't really care about connecting to European servers to play, but the fact that we are forced to and have to constantly worry about the stability of our connections to enjoy the singleplayer game is beyond me.

All the South Africans on this thread are going to be the first people to come here and complain about the ping when they are unable to play the game. Really don't see how you guys can defend Blizzard when they have given us the biggest kick in the face we've ever had from the gaming industry.

Have to agree with you here, I walked blind into this one.

Also my 2 cents about an SA server.

Yes the latencies would be great but I would never trade +-150ms and not be able to play with any friends overseas I have made from online gaming over the years!

Blizz DID look into a server for WoW two or so years back. There were not even close to the amount of players needed to justify it and even now there wont be.

Sure it would be nice to have an offline mode for people who cant afford internet at home but looking at how far gaming has come in the past few years and how we are all getting connected around the world it would just be a step backwards..

There are probably people already working on this to be fair. Whether they work for Blizzard, RAZOR1911, or SKIDROW remains to be seen.

I know it's pointless asking for African servers, not even Africans seem to want them, but at least let us play games like Diablo 3 single player, I don't mind having the client authenticate my copy of the game and authorize my access into the games menu but there really should be an offline option within the menus that doesn't require playing through any server.

I have 10MB line JHB. Love the game. Agree on needing our own servers. WA will come to the party I'm sure, they are a very gaming friendly ISP.

Guys/Girls. If you're experiencing more than 400ms on ADSL I'd recommend buying 1 or 2GBs of Mweb capped, shaped or unshaped.

On average I get about 215ms with lag spikes of 400ms happening every now and again, but it's still more than playable.

Sure it's difficult playing with people in SA due to the latency (400ms to the server then 400ms from the server to your friend = 800ms) but it's still playable.

WACS will be implemented with ISPs sometime within the next few months (if they choose to buy capacity on the cable), so CPT players specifically will get improved performance.

Aussies are in same boat but it doesnt matter because the latency sits at 200ms which is very very playable anyway

Hey a heads up for guys getting high latency, there is ways to alot more resources to games to lower it (I personally used a wow mod to do it). It made a 200ms diff
