I view them as incompetent for not being able to provide an ETA or reason when the technical team took the server down FOR A REASON to fix something! Just communicate it!

Hey guys,

Unfortunately I have no ETA for you right now, but the moment information comes down the pipe it will be communicated.
\

You GMS ALWAYS say that, and i have never seen this extra information. You said the same about the 15-05 evening (like 20 hours after release) downtime, that we would get extra info, well we still dont have extra info on what it was howlong it took to fix.....

Please just make 1 sticky in each forum on downtimes, and keep us informed and give us a ETA, not being able to give a ETA is BS unless it is gonna take days to repair. When you have downtime, say you cant give a ETA and then fix it in 3-6 hours just ment that you were lying.

When you dont want to give a ETA just give a reason why it is down. Tell us servers crashed, some operator system bugged etc. customers want to know whats up.

Posting the same uninformetive line in several topics isnt gonna help this.

and PLEASE stop making promises you wont comply (like giving information f.e.)

Reason is - they do not wish to appear incompetent to prospective new customers. Hence the blanket explanation "addressing an issue".

"Addressing an issue" sounds about as incompetent as it gets. It reads as "something broke but we have absolutely no idea what".

Blizzard, here is the template you should use in the future:
"There is currently problem with <insert type of issue here>. This is <insert description of problem behaviour>. To address this problem we are <insert steps you are undertaking to resolve problem>.

[only if ETA is available]We hope to resolve this by <insert ETA>.
[only if ETA is not available]There is no current ETA for resolving this yet, but we expect to have one by <insert ETA for ETA>

We will give a status update by <insert time no more than one hour from the current time>."

For example:
"There is currently a problem with the battle.net authentication servers. This is causing all new logins to fail with error 33. To address this problem we are taking the battle.net authentication servers down for a reboot. We hope to resolve this problem by 15:15 GMT, and will give a status update no later than 14:00 GMT."

"There is currently problem with Random Unicorns in our data center. This is messing with our karma. To address this problem we are throwing random developers into the Data center to try and lure them out into the parking lot.

We hope to resolve this by doomsday.

I suspect the reason why we have had nothing in detail from blizz as to why they can run WoW that they have years of experience from yet they cannot man up their service for diablo 3 to cope with server load is a cover.

Clearly they are getting hacked and being brought down on peak times and therefore having to recover all of our characters etc to their original pre-hacked state.

or am I wrong blizz?

So why isn't there a trolling button when it comes to Blizzard posts? We all know that even when this problem is fixed, you still won't tell us what was the problem and what you've done to fix it.

Totally agree. I can't blame Blizzard for taking servers down to fix problems, every game has problems at launch, but wouldn't mind knowing why, and when I can play a game I have paid for.

I dont even need to know the reason as it is obvious - they purchased to little servers/ network bandwidth etc.

What I am really angry for is no ETA does not mean anything at all!!!

I'm fine with something like - no ETA but it will take at least 2 more hours and we will provide another update in 2 hours.

And I hope people in Blizzard realize that simple "We apologize" is not enough.

Something in game to reward this would be good if there are some creative ppl for example to choose from:
100% exp buff for the same ammount of time service was offline
Epic Item of the chosen category and 1 stat preference

etc...

I'd still love to know what the 'issue' was, since I was having no problem at all until the server shut down on me. As far as I'm concerned at the moment the issue was the Blizzard turned off the server.

Fair play and thank you for taking the time to post in this thread. But... you must know WHY the server is down, you don't bring the server down to fix something in a planned manner without knowing WHAT you are fixing and I think me and many others would just like to know what is being fixed.

That you even have to thank customer support for showing up to talk to its upset customers is the real problem here. Especially when what the GM said had absolutely disregarded all that you had written, like the GM was trolling you.

Yeah us second-class customers in the EU could only begin to dream about seeing something like that.

hmmm the funny stuff is that EU pays 60Euros and US 60$...
well the lack of comunication and the constant troubles with the servers are a great ideea if you want to get bankrupt.... are you trying to do that?!

Yep, just because the issue is resolved doesn't mean what I wrote in this thread has gone away.

Could you address this properly now please blizzard?

If the issue is fixed, then Blizzard obviously know what the issue was, so perhaps they can tell us what the issue was and what was done to address it and make sure it doesn't reoccur. What do you say, blue posters?

Just made a support ticket to complain as it's clear things need to change around here.

Well, I don't know if that was only part of the issue they took the servers down for, but I just found out, that many of my achievements are missing from this morning's play... just like it happened on launch day :-(
