ok i got a weapon and it has 77.9 dps +3-11 frost damage and then i got another weapon say with +50 int but the damage of the weapon is 33.6 dps how come on the screen its got my damage going down by -150 or so.. though the more int i have the more powerful spells?

Has blizz messed up or does the weapon damage affect your spell damage too?

Do i go for + weapon damage > int, seams strange to me why my ui would show a decrease of dps when im the weapon im trying to put on has clearly more int.

Its not an immeadiate issue atm as facepalming it on nightmare act 2 atm but will need the correct info for hell mode !

Yeah, same thing here. Seems like "Damage" gives a much larger bonus than Intelligence. Which seems mega strange to me as well.

It's because you have a lot of intellect already. The more int you have, the better +dmg becomes. The more +dmg you have, the better int becomes.

The damage of all your spells is based on weapon damage, so I'd value it very high.

I'm no expert, but 1 point of intelligence gives you 1% damage. However, if your base damage isn't too great, it's not gonna help too much. If you're using spells with high coefficients like Energy Twister (360%), weapon damage is invaluable compared to int.

My quick estimation gathered from some ingame comparisons: 1 weapon damage is 5-7 int. I could be wrong, though.

It depends entirely on the stats you have. I'm sitting on ~850 intellect, so adding one more point of intelligence would only increase my damage done by ~0.1%. If I add one point of damage it gets multiplied by that, so each +1 damage becomes +9.5 damage, which for me is about ~0.6% more total damage done.

So with my current stats, it's 6 int = 1 damage. But with a better weapon or more bonus damage from gear, the value of intelligence would increase. With more intelligence, the value of damage would increase.

Yeah... Int increases dam by 1% per int stat.
Example: 100 int effectively doubles the dam output of dam items. with 500 int, a 3-6 dam ring would effectively be 15-30 dam.
It becomes complicated to calculate whether int or dam is best because they are both dependant on each other. I suppose the best way to see if an item is better for you is to try it on.

What every wizz must understand and must do is the following:
-weapon slots and ring / amulet slots MUST be equipped with +dmg items
-all other slots with int
Since weapons and accesories slots are the only ones that can be equipped with +dmg and intellicenge and dmg are dependant on eachother.
