To help reduce server load and improve overall stability, we have temporarily disabled the auto-join functionality for General chat in all regions. Until further notice, if you wish to join General chat, you can type “/join General” into the chat window or click on the cogwheel in the upper left corner to access the Join Public Chat menu. We will provide another update whenever auto-join for General chat is turned back on for each region.
Please note that we will also be making a change with patch 1.0.3 so that if you leave General chat once, the game will remember this preference and you will not automatically join General chat again when logging in. While we don’t yet have a date to share for this patch, we anticipate that it will be released before the end of the month. |

Actually the only chat that is needed is the party-chat so ppl can say "hi" to eachother.. Its the only word i been saying so far in this game...

Yea. Please don't auto enable it again. I'm sick of forgetting about it then talking to a friend and halfway through chatting getting spammed a million times by gold auction sites.

Damn, the second sticky in <10 min, are you sure you are feeling well?
Again, awesome news... However, in the long run it would be nice if not only the symptom (autojoin) got treated but also the desease (spamming) - e.g. making the chat system automatically temp-block an account from the chat if doing excessive messaging in public chat, a.k.a. spamming. Another suggestion that has been brought up is to add customizable filters to allow players to block all messages with certain words in it. |

Thank god! Now do NOT re-enable it! This is not an MMO and the general chat is mostly used by goldsellers and the like. Better yet, just forget about it.

Suggestion: Change "General chat" to "General spam".

it is serving as gold seller promotion channel anyway. can't you add another report type like that? i don't think spamming is proper for that not sure should report them for cheating. still they deserve their own report title.
