Diablo® III

Public Games Matchmaking Clarification

We’ve recently seen a lot of questions from players regarding the number displayed in the Public Games window – specifically, what the number represents and why it’s changed so drastically since patch 1.0.3 released.

Here’s the skinny:

1) What does the number displayed in the Public Games window actually represent?
The number that displays in the Public Games window represents the total number games currently available to your hero, based on your game region and mode (Hardcore heroes qualify for a different set of Public Games). The number does not represent private games or Public Games that already have four players. Players hanging out in the character menus or using the auction house are not considered here either.

2) Why did that number suddenly change so much after patch 1.0.3?
Prior to patch 1.0.3, the in-game matchmaking system would often create new Public Games instead of filling existing games to their maximum capacity of four players. That configuration was to help reduce server load within individual games (fewer players, less load); however, it caused situations where players were rarely being placed into full games, and our goal has always been to promote the four player cooperative experience in Diablo III.

In patch 1.0.3 we made some changes so that the matchmaking system would attempt to fill Public Games instead of creating new ones whenever possible. As a result, we’re seeing more filled Public Games than ever before (you may have noticed this yourself while playing), but it also means that the number displayed in the Public Games window generally isn’t as high as it was prior to patch 1.0.3. As explained above, this is due to the fact that the value only reflects Public Games which aren’t yet full.

We understand that labeling this number as “In Games” in the Public Games window can be confusing, so we’re currently looking into ways to make the number and what it represents more clear. In the meantime, we continue to closely monitor both the state of the game service and your questions and comments about Diablo III.

i have never seen the number in act3 inferno to be higher than 10. So basicly there is never more then 10 ppl who open the game for public, or there is so many ppl that the games are being filled up the second its opened. I wish i could think that the second is true, BUT :
1. if u join a game, dont like the ppl there, and leave, there is 60% chance that the next time u join a public game it will be the same ppl.
2. there were numerous times then the main farming quest, "siegebraker", had 0 "games" for me to join, and i had to wait seconds till the game was created for me alone. Well it did not happen a lot, but still... the game is like less then 2months out.
3. U barely meet ppl that have finished the game, 1 or 2, who might have been fortunate to earn some money through streaming, or crafting, or just by being in the first wave of ppl to finish the game and sell blue items for mmmmmm(or kkkkkkkkk).

So... this is their answer to try to hide the dropdown numbers in players atm... Blame it on the new system :D

Thing is... it doesnt work. PPL are leaving and more and more will be leaving when they realise patch 1.03 is not even worth the name "hotfix".

Why Im leaving ? I spent 7 hours this weekend in less than mediocer quality gear (still killed D3 inf pretty easily). I had zero item as an upgrade and highest item sold was 50K gold. So Im not so stupid to spend more time on this junk.

Character progression in D3 is so badly broken that its simply not worth doing. And it can not be fixed because ppl are spending REAL money on the items and they will go nuts if something is changed.

Gratz Blizzard. YOu can not fix the real issues in the game because of your own greed.

Its not supposed to be a SP game, they've said numerous times that they want us to play Co oP even before the release and after...didnt he even mentioned it in this blue post?

and 1000 players aren't enough to co op ?

My point is .....there're more urgent and important things to fix in this game than care about how many players are in the servers or not !!!

Blizz fix the game = more and more players :P

Atm i see "In Game 1554", when i mouseover it says "1554 players in public games", there's nothing confusing in it, it's just the number of ppl that actually is in public games NOT the number of public games available for my char, it's crystal clear. I understand you are just trying to convince ppl that this game isn't dead yet, but, I mean, c'mon who is trolling who?

This blue post is a copy & paste of the one in the US forum, but i think, if u guys have nothing smart to tell us, better to tell us nothing instead of this nonsense. U guys must really think we are stupid.

Great. First blue post in a week and it sounds like !@#$. Give us at least something. Some info about the patch, answers to forum's questions, when Jay Wilson will be fired etc. etc.

In the name of The Diablo 2, you're The Blizzard. Respect your fans while you still have some.

I'm sorry but that statement has nothing to do with reality.
Playing inferno=playing solo.
