Diablo® III

Video Games are Rubbish

I have been playing video games for 14 years, tried most of them, once they were exciting and good fun.

Nowadays they are generally mediocre and boring after a short time playing.

Gone are the epic games like, Baldurs Gate and Half-Life, Unreal, AoE and Splinter Cell, .

Even on-line games are powder puff rubbish nowadays, WoW has changed, the world of video games is dead. There is nothing on the horizon, I have seen the trailers of GW2, it's just GW with better graphics, same boring !@#$.

Something has to happen in the gaming industry, otherwise I'll have to talk to people again and re-join the world. Where as the creativity gone? what is up with you developers have you no imagination, you are completely useless, take some L.S.D. or something, get some inspiration you bunch of useless cretins. I have had enough of your C.R.A.P..

Just do something for your pay instead of turning out endless dog poo.

A mere technicality.

I tend to agree. Although I'm going to play GW2 when it's released. Looking forward to it. But you're right about games being average and boring these days. I'm not sure what it is, maybe developers see innovation as a gamble, ideas are expensive and too much innovation could alienate people without even paying off.

I find especially when it comes to MMORPGS they keep trying the same formula and hoping their game is as successful as WOW, even though WOW didn't really come up with anything amazing or new it was just more polished at the time and was released at the right time. Now they cater for every clueless kid out there and while they do have fans and the numbers. They certainly don't have a good game. It has become stale and boring.

I quit WOW multiple times over the years, some for periods of up to a year and came back. I quit again recently about 5-6 months ago. I'm waiting for Guild Wars 2. I'm not excited about MOP expansion. There is nothing new in Mists of Pandaria, nothing new at all. anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what they're talking about. I remember being excited by the idea of doing Rated Battlegrounds, not that that's enough to keep me playing anymore.. but that type of innovation where they change the game and building on the already successful game is what gives it longevity. Not this ridiculous lackluster expansion they propose to us.

So that's why even if GW2 turns out to be an average MMORPG, I will most likely stay and play it over WOW just out of spite.

@ Boa

I will play GW2 too, I hope it surprises me, I have no inclination to play WOW again, the last expansion was such a disappointment.

I have tried a couple of betas - last being PoE and I wasn't impressed. I would go back to WOW if they could produce a similar format as they did with the progression through BC, attunements for HC's and raiding but the last expansion was dire, without depth.

I have bought so many games over the last few years - left many of them before completing, I have Plex in my Eve account and can't bring myself to play. I do hope GW2 is a breath of fresh air, the gaming industry certainly needs it.

I suppose it is only a matter of time before someone comes up with a winning formula and a game is made to last for a few years. At the moment the main producers appear to be barking up the wrong tree.

I disagree. Videogames are not getting worse. It's you that's getting older.

that might be true, but then again im just 25 and i don't really feel that old. But i did (and still do) enjoy games like Baldur's Gate and Half-Life, HoMM, AoE, CS 1.6 or Diablo and i didn't(and still don't) like the sequels(except for Half-Life, Valve delivered). Today's games lack the complexity older games had(and i don't mean that the challenge is weak, if you really want a challenge try playing VVVVVVVV, but that the game play is weak with all the games are made idiot-friendly just for the sake of having large sales ). I'm not implying that all the new games are horrible but more than half of them are bad(that's my opinion and i'm not forcing you to agree with me).

I've being playing computer & video games for 30 years and I love them.

That's all...

Eh, most games have been ripoffs and are generic, thats why the good ones stand out like they do. Halflife, GoldenEye, Hitman, Portal, Chrono Trigger, Mega Man 3, etc.

I dont feel like its any worse now than its been. Most games are mediocre, thats pretty much the definition of it.

Or new generation get more stupid, game developers understand that and release games full of !@#$, pandas and ponies for win win win profit.

Its not games are getting any worse, its that you have exhausted your energy to play them. Hence why you seek new content all the time. Find a game you enjoy and love it for many years. Both chess and cards can be played on the computer and have been enjoyed a heck of a lot longer than your 14 years.

Edit, Gaming since 1979.

Games are turning to nothing more but overhyped graphical benchmarks with each release.

It's weird:

The OP claims he has been playing games for 14 years, yet writes a post that resembles a 12 year old's rant.

I'm confused :/
