trying to remove unnecessary files

Technical Support
Can i delete the files named

C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\wow-update-base-<number>.MPQ
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\Cache\patch-base-<number>.MPQ

???
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\Cache\patch-base-<number>.MPQ

You can delete these files, however the other ones are needed.

You can also delete the Updates folder in the WoW directory.

Hi.

Its not necessary to delete any of those files in the data directory, but as for cache, yes if you get any problems.
the whole cache directory or just those files ?

and what about

C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft\Data\enGB\wow-update-enGB-<number> ?

i want to create a backup copy of wow because blizzard was "smart" enough to release the Cataclysm DvD with 4gigabytes of updates missing.....
And i need to shrink it as much as i can.
You can delete the Updates, Cache and Data/Cache folders. You can delete the Interface and WTF folders as well if you don't mind resetting your UI.

WoW requires at minimum 25GB of free space.
