WCS - Nerchio and MaNa to Represent Poland in the Europe Finals

The StarCraft II World Championship Series (WCS) Poland Nationals tournament took place on May 12 in Wroclaw, amid the chants and cheers of an enthusiastic audience. With the top eight Polish players who prevailed at the open qualifiers vying for only two slots in the Europe Finals, the competition was bound to be intense.

The Crowd The Trophy

The crowd eagerly awaited the starting matches that would show the winner of the Polish Nationals trophy

Swarming Through the Field

After a full day of exciting matches, the field was cut from eight players down to three. Zerg player Artur "AcerNerchio" Bloch showed little sign of weakness, dealing with his opponents in a swift and decisive manner. He easily locked a spot in the Grand Final, guaranteeing him a place in the Europe Finals.

Protoss Pulling Through

In the Consolation Bracket, the battle for the remaining spot came down to a clash between Marcin "MǂDieStar" Wieczorek and Grzegorz "mouzMaNa" Komincz. After a long back-and-forth best-of-three TvP battle, it was the protoss player MaNa who won the chance to face off against Nerchio in the Grand Final and secured the second ticket to the Europe Finals.

Coming from the Consolation Bracket, MaNa had his work cut out for him going into the Grand Final. To become the Polish champion, he would have had to win two best-of-three series against Nerchio, who had beaten him in the earlier rounds. Still on a roll from his previous match, MaNa quickly equalized the score with two victories. But Nerchio came back strong and proved unbeatable in the next two games – an effort that earned him the Polish championship.

Congratulations to both players and good luck at the Europe Finals!
