StarCraft II Players Banned

StarCraft II Players Banned

We recently issued a new round of account suspensions and bans to StarCraft II playerswho were in violation of the Battle.net Terms of Use for cheating and/or using hack programs while playing. In addition to undermining the spirit of fair competition that’s essential to play on Battle.net, cheating and hacking can lead to stability and performance issues with the service. As always, maintaining a stable, safe, and secure online-gaming experience for legitimate players is a top priority for us, and we'll be continuing to keep watch on Battle.net and take action as needed.

How can cheats hurt performance? Asking out of curiosity.

I would like rude people to be banned too.

And yet, I can't help but wonder, how do the hackers always manage to hack, no matter how complex the system is? How long will it take until IT reaches the magic-psyence status that it'll be impossible for the common person to understand it and it's secrets be held by a limited few?

@Rasofe: The people who work against something such as Blizzard will always be more talented and numerous than those who work with it. Its an odd phenomenon. Eg American Government tries to shut down wikileaks - people of the webz successfully defend the attacks

Displaying banned lists to open public is not a good idea. No detection method is flawless and everyone might be incidentally marked as the bad guy. Also your account could have been hacked or whatever. If this happens to you, you might solve the problem with Blizzard. If people realize you are on such "shame list" however , they might start to harass you for things you never did.

I fully agree that they should be BANNED and the name and shame list must be implemented.

One must just be carefull in saying that all cheaters are new players. You see me not using the word NOOB. A word which I become to hate. Think that calling someone this should also be banned. As a starcraft community we will loose potentially good players by calling them this - give everyone chance. Just remeber you were a new player once - stop the arrogance and encourage more players to play!

Instead of banning players, make them unable to use this kind of illegal programs etc.
Banning is not a solution...

@Scyleia: You're making absolutely no sense at all, if they even had a way to just "make people unable to hack" they'd use that on every account in the first place. Banning is the solution.

@Alexander: Blizzard is banning players and publishing these articles becouse they can't stop cheaters(so to make the players afraid of getting banned they are publishing this articles), no matter how much player they ban, there will allways be cheaters. So banning is not a solution...

@Scyleia: Banning and making these kind of posts is however the correct way to deal with cheaters. If there were a better alternative than banning people, I'm quite sure they would have done it.

@Scyleia: I believe that banning is one of the best way to go against cheaters. If you don't ban them they will just search for other alternatives to hack/cheat again. The only thing left to do is to improve the methods of detecting cheaters.

@lemag: i'm not saying "do not ban players even if they are cheating", all i'm saying is even if blizz ban players, there will be cheaters. They should prevent players from cheating...

@Scyleia: Why is everyone so into Banning! I rate that they should just suspend players for a curtain period of time. Use that as a warning before banning. For all we know this is what Blizz is doing! But nevertheless! still great for Blizzard to do this! Cheaters dont know how to have fair fun!

@Scyleia: These suckas deserve to be banned, they were warned, and if you think its so bloody easy to just "prevent players from cheating", then do it yourself. It's practically impossible. And as for Bishop, they were warned, a lot of times. Firstly its in the terms of agreement, and secondly, theres already been bans, which was published on the website. Keep it up blizzard!
