@YoK: Only the key tied to your account triggers the CE additional content, not the Client itself.

@YoK: I downloaded the digital client and activated it with a CE Key. As you can see by my Portrait, i got the full CE goodies in Game. Also, as LuPoN pointed out, both clients are actually the same.

But if I downloaded the EU_ru version before the separation of the russian version from an european one? Need I download again RU_ru version for my russian retail key, or EU_ru version will accept this key?

Question.

I want an English language version of Starcraft 2. At the same time I want to be able to play on European and Russian servers. Which version should I buy? (digital purchase is preferred)

As Xordiah locked the topic relating to this, can we use a retail key with the digital download? I've got a preorder on the way but it'd be nice if we could be prepared in advance ^^
@Kael: Welcome to our comments section! Isn't it great to be able to talk about the content of the blog right below the entry?

About your question: The digital download is mainly for players that purchase the product online. You download the full client, that you can start installing on July 27, at the same time the midnight sales start - it will install the full game then. To be able to play, you will have to have a StarCraft II license attached to your Battle.net account and then log into the client with that Battle.net account.

I hope that answers your question. :)

@Bulkers: Since you will have to register your Polish copy of StarCraft II at your Battle.net account, you will have the license on it and will be able to use it with any EU game client. So: you're buying a box in Polish store > you have a CD key in that box > you log in to your Battle.net account here on this site and go to Add game > fill the field with your CD key from the box > Yay! You've got the EU license! You can now play using any EU client, whether it is EN or PL or DE or other, because you have a license on your B.net account and it is the only thing required to play.

Shortly: Yes, you can. :-)

@Bulkers: I had the same question(and i posted it on the "welcome" section...). I think Kumbol is right. You can actually buy the game(cd-key) anywhere in europe, download it on your pc and play. You see, the only difference in servers is about the region(North Ameirca/Europe/Asia), not the language.

@Xordiah: So we can download the UK client now. Add a German retail store SC2 Version to our Battle.net Account on release day and can play with the downloaded UK client?

@Ara: I think yes. The region option tells you where you can play with this account. The language is only for the battle.net or maybe the menus. But where ever you buy the game from(per say Germany)if you regional choice is Europe,English you'll be fine.

@Xordiah: Thanks :) It's going to take a little getting used to the new format, but it is very swish!

And it sounds like it's simply easier to install your own retail copy when it arrives in the mail, rather than wait to be able to install the digital download. Am I right in saying that?

@Kerrigan: Yea, would also want to know about the price. I would cancel my pre-order and get it digital so i can play on 27 and not worry about if the copy will get to me in time or not. But it wouldn't be nice if in the end i would have to pay more here :X

@spychi: true the box is a box, but from my perspective, the digital is faster and you will have it instantaneously, since you can already PRE download it and have it ready to go at release. If it is cheaper then a box I can't see any benefits with getting a box unless it is collection edition.
