Electronic Sports League has confirmed StarCraft II as one of the Intel Extreme Masters games that will be played during next month’s gamescom in Cologne, Germany, where 16 participants will fight for their share of the $15,000 prize pool. The first three players: Dima “DIMAGA” Filipchuk, Pierre “SarenS” Guivarch and Pedro “LucifroN” Moreno Duran, have already secured their spots in the event by placing top three in the 24th Go4SC2 cup. The next qualifier takes place on Sunday, so sign up today!
Day[9]’s King of the Beta concluded on StarCraft II launch day with American Zerg player Greg “IdrA” Fields defeating Korean Protoss player Seo Ki “Tester” Soo. Dutch orc player Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen claimed victory in the 147th edition of the weekly ZOTAC-Cup. In a mirror match final he beat South Korean, 11-time ZOTAC-Cup winner, Dong Hwan “viOlet” Kim 3-1, achieving a 15th victory of his own.
