Custom Map Storage Limits Increased

Custom Map Storage Limits Increased

In an effort to help make StarCraft II map publishing more flexible and convenient, we’ve recently made several changes to custom map storage, increasing all three storage variables for publishing maps online:

  • Total custom map slots increased from 10 to 20
  • Individual custom map space increased from 10 MB to 20 MB
  • Total storage space increased from 50 MB to 100 MB

Whether you're someone who enjoys creating a large number of smaller melee maps, or if you prefer creating fewer, but significantly larger maps, we hope mapmakers of all shapes and sizes will benefit from these changes.

If you haven’t yet taken a crack at the StarCraft II editor, head on over to our (Maps and Mods page for some mapmaking tutorials, as well as more information on official Blizzard mods we’ve made to show off what the editor is capable of.

Actually Starcraft II Editor is more powerful than WCIII editor. However as exchange it is harder to use (Data Editor etc).

Its not a joke because its not April the 1st.
Its simply a lie.

You don't think they would lie? They lie all the time:

"We wont release the game half-finished to sell expansions; multiplayer will be fundamentally complete from day 1, and any remaining balance issues fixed for free without buying an expansion."
-turns out Zerg were left completely unfinished and underpowered, ready for Heart of the Swarm purchase.

"The Galaxy Map Editor is powerful."
-turns out its far weaker than the war3 editor, almost powerless in some regards.

"Perminent Ladder Ban expiring: Date"
-Perminent account bans dont ever expire, but this doesnt stop them lieing to all banned users that it does, with a fake un-ban date that keeps refreshing every 3 days - on their account management page.

Just a few examples off the top of my head :)

Nice! Double the space is quite a good update, but still i hope they will keep raising it. Custom content (meshes, sounds, textures) can take up quite some space

@topfuel:

Its quite easy to make a basic map, but if you wanna make more advanced stuff then sure it can be hard, but what do you expect. The computer cant do everything for you. Learn the tools

No clue, you need to keep track of that when installing games. like always using C:\Games or something

Search for Starcraft II in that folder is an exe file called StarCraft II Editor

finally, now goa can do a lot more work on The Final Frontier, i can do a lot more for my mod, and a ton of other stuff is possible! :D (p.s. i agree with the posts below, the map region system is unfair, especially since i've seen some of the posts on the US forums indicating some really nice maps :/)

Good question RMJ, why is that. While I dont have anything against americans I do feel somtimes ya lot do add some strange constrictions on stuff "only for us". Is getting kinda old like China.

While a nice start it is. The racism needs to stop. How about making it so maps getting published can be played by all regions? why would you limit EU map makers to only have their maps published in EU region?.

I really dont get youre logic.

Now we just need a custom map system that gives any maps but those on the first page of the Most Popular a chance to ever ever be played.

@Srekel: Dunno where they have hidden their rss button. However most (i think) webbrowsers have a RSS function built in. If you are using firefox you go to bookmarks-> Subscribe to RSS feed. (Dont know if these are the exact names in english, i use firefox in another language ;) )

Awesome change! Even though I was nowhere near reaching the maximum capacity I would imagine that other more dedicated mapmakers may have been.
