Season 6 Has Begun

The sixth StarCraft II League season has arrived! At this time, Season 5 milestones have been awarded, and bonus pools and standings have been reset. Hidden skill ratings used for matchmaking and league placement have carried over from the previous season, so players who have completed placement matches in a previous season will only need to play one new placement match to kick off the new season.

Don’t forget to review the changes to the official ladder pool for Season 6, as well, and keep in mind that Grandmaster League will start next week.

5 seasons i was plat i skipped season 4 and got into season 5 really late i got plat then got to the top plat and now it made me gold :D like wtf atm i beat plat and diamond players and still no promo when will it come :D

I got placed in Gold, like I was in season 5 (Won placementmatch). Then I played a game, I lost, then I played yet anotherone, I won that game and got promoted to PLAT :)

Everything you say sounds fairly reasonable to me ... I was placed in bronze too, after I lost my placement against some dumb cheese... I won the next match, got promoted an somehow I got 56 Ladderpoints?! Now I'm mid to high silver and my ladderpoints say 94, when they should be at 38 ... what is happening?! XD Not that I'm complaining ... XD

@Sjurminator: But if you win one other match, you will be rank 50 or higher. Placement is just for "filtering" the inactive players. And if a person really doesn't fit in a league, he/she will get promoted/demoted. Don't mind the rank in the beginning of a season.

Ha ha ha still in bronze I win much more than I lose still hanging around in bronze...lol. At least I am up very high but darnit I want silver or gold again ...grrr
Starting tonight I am gonna move infront of my PC and not leave it till the weekend finishes...thas right no eating, no drinking just plain good ol starcraft for me! Just what the doctor ordered

i was silver 1v1 and plat 4v4 random....... guy left the game of 1v1... and i was placed in gold :D:D:DD:D:D::D and plat for 4v4 ... only played 2 matches and got promoted to Daimond !!! omg

I was hoping for a silver this season but still in bronze.at the end of last season I got some gold/silver oppoments but no promotion.At least it gives me motivation to win more&more this season bec u can always get promoted...

yay i am still in silver as last season ... hope this season or next one i get to gold
@streetcat i guess its your winrate vs diferent ranks (the ones lower than you , higher than you) maybe duration of matches, your stats in match x vs the ones of the enemy... thats what i think it is ... from my experience in ladder and placing 'till now. maybe i'm wrong but i may be right :)

I just cant understand it
finished 4th season on 2nd place on bronze, won the placement on 5th and yet - bronze !
let's see whats gonna happen in the placement match for the 6th...

cant u guys just show the formula or the indicators for promoting\demoting users ?

i was rank 7 bronze when season 5 ends and when i played placement match for s6 my internet connection crashed... i was really angry but when i logged in i was in silver :D so i was very happy then.

I actually dont like the way you need just one placement match because I think it really is just about luck in which league you will end and I suppose that the five matches placement is more fai although on the higher ladders it is too long...

@NPGCfemor: That match is just 2 qualify you its not random say your win/loss rate is 50/50 you would stick in your league, if you had 90/10 you would promote amd if you had 20/80 demote.

@NPGCfemor: I don't think you get placed based on the outcome of this one match (since you already have a skill rating from the previous season(s)). I guess the single game is just the trigger to place you for this season (to make sure you're still playing).

@NPGCfemor: The placement match is an activity check. I got bumped to Silver after mine. But I lost, during the season 5 lock I did very well and had a 75% win rate vs mostly Silver leaguers. So my MMR was high enough for promotion but the lock prevented that, the system just needed me to play a game to bump me up!

ended with around 1050 points 1v1 bronze last season rank 1 . then i won my placement match against a silver guy/girl without problems had around 3x his army in 10 mins play time even though im still bronze *sigh* #foreverbronze....

This is so awkward, I played my placement match and I won really, my opponent had zero bases with little army and I had 4 bases with 100 army supply.. PANG DC.. like FACEPALM

Pointless game.. silver again hate it ... :'(
