Patch 1.4.3 Now Live

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty patch 1.4.3 is now live! This patch features several bug fixes, as well as balance changes for the protoss and terran races. Be sure to check out the full patch notes below to learn all about the latest changes.

 

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty - Patch 1.4.3

General

  • APM values displayed on the Leader Board are now calculated by counting every click and command that has been issued by the player.
  • EPM values displayed on the Leader Board are calculated by counting only actual commands issued by the player (Effective Actions Per Minute).
  • Zerg Larvae are now displayed in the unit panel of the Leader Board.

Balance

  • PROTOSS
    • Phoenix
      • A new upgrade has been added to the Fleet Beacon: Anion Pulse-Crystals. This upgrade increases Phoenix weapon range by +2.
  • TERRAN
    • Ghost
      • Snipe damage changed from 45 to 25 (+25 vs Psionic).
    • Orbital Command Center
      • MULE now always returns 30 minerals per trip, regardless of mineral type.

Bug Fixes

  • The “Try the Next Patch” button now properly launches the PTR client when a PTR is available.
  • Unread chat notifications no longer reset when entering or leaving a game.
  • Map information now loads immediately in the Match History screen after logging onto Battle.net.
  • In the Korean version, the Reduced Violence option now remains checked when restoring gameplay defaults.
  • Fixed a display issue that could occur when binding certain keys on a French keyboard.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when exiting StarCraft II on systems with Geforce FX 5700 graphics cards.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when saving and loading games between High and Low video settings.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause some players to be dropped from custom games after spending an extended time in the lobby.
  • Fixed an issue which was causing some players with a full version of SC2 to be stuck in Starter Edition.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause ladder matches to sometimes start three seconds late.
  • Fixed an issue where overlapping units could sometimes traverse cliff levels.
  • Fixed an issue which prevented some players from receiving credit for Top X achievements after Season 3.
  • Fixed an issue which caused FFA games to reset the progress of the Team Hot Streak achievement.
  • Fixed an issue where the Restart button was incorrectly showing up when loading Vs. AI saved games from previous versions of StarCraft II.

Mac Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the cursor would disappear when using the middle mouse button.
  • Fixed an issue which caused performance to drop significantly during large battles.
  • Fixed an issue that was causing certain mod maps to crash after loading.
  • The Reduce Mouse Lag option now works properly on Macs.

The biggest problem in the powerful snipes wasn't the fact that they did a lot of damage, it was more the fact that with one mid tier structure, like the Ghost Accademy, you could devastate the highest tier units of the zerg and there was just no tech switch available: you scan the Ultralisc Den and make a lot of ghosts and devastate the zerg army. Well that's Okey, the Zerg is a type of a race that can quickly build more units and rebuild it's forces, but there is no tech switch available, since broodlord are even worse against ghosts... See my point?

hmm not posting very offen i think this is second time i write here or the first time...anyway im tired of stupid posts about "new patches" that have lame and stupid nerfes and ovp if u have problems with ur tactic u shoud improveit i never complain about patches or nerfes and yes i am forever TERRAN and yet i take all head on but now y is kinda usless the ghost's snipe i mean wtf...cant even assasinate a marine.... or worker but hey i use nukes to take out the whole production:D so its just fine keep the good work blizzard and ignore those unevolved mononeuronal loosers that cant a unique tactic and i respect evryone for playing this game:D (i hope to see my beloved Goliats soon i rly miss em:)) )

Broodlords + corruptors? u cant use vikings... Ghost was the only thing to win against it and now its gone? I am not posting this in hate but just a bit annoyed. I mean for crying out loud ghost cost 200 mins and 100 gas i mean ghost vs toss sure it op but against broodlords/corruptors we really need ghost there is no counter to broodlords and corruptors, so please Blizzard your a great company but don't nerf ghost Vs Brood lords and corruptors.

Terran is always op. TvP is imbalanced. EMP, mules and stimmarauder is OP.
My patch:
Marauder
Cost 125/50/2
or
decrease health from 125 to 100 and damage from 10(20A) to 8(16).
or
Marauder has no longer Stimpack.

EMP is available after research in Ghost Academy (200/200).

Ghost academy cost is inceased to 150/100.

Mules is deleted. Now you can drop SCV free and forever.

Scan radius is decreased -25%.

Siege Tank cost and supply is increased from 150/125/3 to 200/150/4.

I make not fun. Terran it need!

@Ozzy: seriously? TvP isn't imbalanced but it would be after your patch!!! I play Terran and TvP is my worst match-up. Its different for different players i always lose to lots of forcefeilds early and when you
see ghosts you should send a small force (literally just 2 stalkers) to pick them off and an observer if they are cloaked
if you let the ghosts get big EMPs off in the engagement them of coarse you are going to lose! PLEASE before you start shouting 'OP this' 'OP that' try to find solutions to your problems. I hope this helped :)

in my opinion blizzrd thought terran are to strong in 1v1 vs toss
but they reduce the things you need vs protoss like emp snipe and other
but they forgot alone mmm is trong enough vs toss (in late game you need strike thors and vikings)
when the marauder lose stim there is more balance but terran need more thigs back like better emp reduce emp energy cost and other

predictions for next patch:

Terran:
* Ghost removed
* Marines now cost 25mins more
* Tanks cost 4 supply now.
* Mules removed

Zerg:

* Zergling moves 50% faster
* Banelings can move under ground
* Armor upgrades totally free

Toss

* Upgrades cost 50% less
* Zealot moves 25% faster
* Stalker gets double shield.

I would love to see a change in zergs anti air units such as hydra..
or why not have it like it was in the beta, roaches costs only minerals and take 1 pop :D

Hydras should be a tier 1 unit + have a higher health count... damn the hydra in broodwar was the pillar in the zerg army in broodwar...

@Iceman: I think that's more reason to not have the Hydra Tier 1 if anything. . . whilst I think it's quite clear that Hydralisks have essentially -no- place in the metagame at this point, aside from being very situational in ZvP, I don't think they should become Tier 1 because that's not their issue -- especially if they receive a health increase.

Go with a HP increase and probably a range upgrade (or attack speed), with mobility being another issue altogether. They just don't seem to be worth the cost right now, however.

Okay I haven't played for a while but I have watched streams etc and kept up-to-date on all the new updates and I don't see why all you kids are crying.

Firstly no Terran should ever use ghosts vs ultra\broodlords, Vikings in a nice group of 6\10 destroy broodlords due to extra damage vs massive, as for ultras a nice spread out and well micro'd group of marauders or Thors would so the trick.

Secondly as for the new pheonix upgrade, blizzard have placed it correctly in the fleet beacon and their reason is that well nix's are relatevely easy to get out and aren't costly however having a cheap +2 range upgrade would be ridiculous think about the distance you could snipe overlords at, pick up drones, Queen's etc. I think this update is perfect the way it is. All you kids crying have no arguement and clearly haven't thought about this properly.
This game is balanced, the three races are balanced all are op in their own way which cancels out any superiority if your crying about the fact that a 4 gating toss is op then learn how to beat it, skill is the key ingredient to success.

I like this patch, i don't think that terran units was op, i think that the cost of the units was op, i mean if you get hellions as terran and loose them, no big deal you keep on making units or expansions or what you want to. But if the zerg has not scouted it, and are rdy for it. the zerg just lost the game. but my real problem is that you can't go ground vs a terran that got siege tanks. You got to have air in form of mutalisks or broodlords, since NP is useless. But really blizzard should make snipe do its original dmg, but then just do less dmg against massive. maybe even ground massive? that should solve all the crying on the forums from terran.

blizzard why nerf terran nerf protoss with his noobrays and noobmass stalkers and give terran some better things like more emp radius and range ubgrade with viking or some thing else if you will realey more ballace to tvz or p reduce siege tank damage or reduce stim speed realey only waht you can do with terran is mmm or msm

i like see in future patch medic and firebat and put goliath the vikings so weak. The strength of the vikings atleast for me is the ability to fly right next to a heavy duty unit land and rape it thanks to minimum range. The vikings have a fairly powerful land attack, but their main ability is still the hit and run. Im prefere one thousend time goliath XD

I say I understand that broodlords usage should be encouraged, but I think making ghost overall useless was little bit pointless. Maybe 20+ 25 vs light & psionic would have been apropriate for 25 energy. Ghost is now too situation specific making it unreliable for any build. Overall I'm disapointed by blizzards current "balancing acts" that encourage players just stick with basic troops such as marines & marauder rushes. All more advanded stuff is becoming useless while basic troops seems to become even more powerful because of all nerfs. Why not to make any stradegy at all when most powerful build is Marine maurauder medivac stimpack death ball when all other terran units has been nerfed to state of uselessness.

In my theory, some of the basic troops such marines and marauder should be nerfed instead of ghost or tanks or reapers or ghosts. I know I'm not the best player to judge changes, because I don't have best makromanagement but by numerical mikromanagement point of view understand that I've tactical understanding that is also part of star craft too.

IF you go TVT and he gona rush you whit mass marine you can go ghost to kill him marine by using snipes... now you cant even rush whit them.

Why dont you take away cloke and nuke to so they even become even less op

TERRAN IS NOT OP...

all units is balance if you dident know.....
the sniper shots was to kill a marine whit one shot if he dident have a C S
and was also a units that can kill broodlords.

now you most use viking vs broodlords and you can never go mass bio vs zerg in late game if you dont wana lose.

well this sucks

Really surprised to see the way Blizzard fixed the Ghost Snipe. Obviously I'm glad that snipe got nerfed against Broodlords and ultras - but I really used to enjoy using snipe in TvP and TvT, and I really don't think it was imbalanced there. It was just an interesting play - but with the new patch snipe is totally useless vs marines, marauders, zealots ect.

It does not seem like they put many thoughts into that nerf. Does anyone know why they just didnt made 25 (+25 vs non-massive) instead of the current 25 (+25 vs psionic) ? It really puzzles me - I refuse to believe that Blizzard never made a second thought?

awesome for ZvT(but personally I've had more trouble from toss than terran nowadays...). Anyway why are the patches screwing around? When 1.4.2 was released I couldn't login or patch automatically and now the same with 1.4.3? I know it's not a huge issue but come on a name like Blizzard should at least be experienced enough to get the little things sorted out? thumbs up nontheless yo and btw... funny how none of the world's top players are !@#$%ing this much I mean I'm bronze and prolly don't "understand" the game as you "pro's" would say but what gives you the right to moan when you don't know nearly as much as the real pro's do? just a thought ^^
