@Nico: The Israeli and South African candidates are playing in the European Nationals, along with all the European countries who didn't get their own series. The top 2 from the EU Nationals go to the EU Grand Finals.

Only 1 person goes to european finals from Finland? WHAT? We have one of the best players in the world like Naama, Satiini, Elfi and Welmu and ONLY 1 goes to european finals. Are you joking me? At the same time there goes 3 from sweden....errr? Blizz failed. (from Ukraina only 2 players, and they got soo much great players) When last time swedish sc2 player done something?

@SnakeQ: I think you are joking right?
Naniwa (currently the only Code S foreigner, MLG winner)
Jinro (Round of 4 in GSL code S)
ThorZaIN
Sjow
Morrow
HayprO
Even TLO moved to Sweden to get at good practice environment, some would call it the European South Korea...THATS why they got so many spots, and Finland and Denmark for instance got less...

Hmmm Honestly i think it will be a really small prize pool, Blizz is really selfish when it comes to money, i also think, that this format is going to be really hard to play through, you have to play through qualifiers, nationals then finals then Global finals to win the prize pool, i think pro gamers will agree that its too much work for little pay (that is IF the pool is small like NASL`s false advertisement.) 100,000 $$$ and yet its through 4 seasons i believe...

@Grovbolle.
Wow the arrogance and ignorance of "EU"
who is pro from mexico,peru and chile ?
Stop excluding us from everything.
btw we have tournaments as well such as (SA only) http://www.dogamingleague.co.za/

and which some pro's from around the world would know http://polarfluke.co.za/ which is a 900$ prize pool we have had the likes of dimaga, goody , sati and more that have competed in polarfluke.

in 2011, almost 3.9 million physical games were sold generating over R900 million in revenue which is $113 million ( round about there ) not so great but still worthy enough of having Battle.net World Championship Series

and a blue post said there's a high chance of South Africa being added

Peru: coL.CatZ and IM_Fenix
Chile: dKiller
Mexico: xSix.Major

Besides from that, it is not my arrogance, I hope that Africa are added to this championship, for it to be a real world championship, it has to feature most of the world.
Didn't know that polarfluke was an African tournament...
So chill bro, I am not against you, I just tried to explain the reasoning behind why Africa might not be added.

@Grovbolle:
Many of us in South Africa (a country not a continent) play on EU server (latency better than any other bn region).

Why not add us as a country in EU?
I am not a good player but there may be some good enough to compete - often I watch streams and find others from my country in the chat...

Just a thought.

As much as I feel for the people from Africa, you have to admit that the African scene has produced 0 known/famous players (Pandatank is the only semi known player). Also Africa does not have it's own server, since it is by Blizzard considered not a large enough market to justify the investment of a separate server.

I'm sorry Africa, that's the way it is.

@illidanRa: As much as I think Africa is a valid continent to have it's own server, qualifiers and so forth, the general world picture of the entire African continent is simply that it is underdeveloped, and there's gonna be at least a couple of years before it is profitable enough.

"World Championship". Ummm... you know Africa is part of the world, right? You know, the second largest content with 15% of the world's population? Ever heard of us?

I understand that we might not have a large StarCraft community, but at least mention that you know we exist...

So, I am polish, but at the moment staying in Taiwan and going to Poland just to play it is obviously not an option... Does that mean I can't take part in the tournament?
I don't have taiwanese citizenship, but I am studying here - does it qualify me to take part in taiwanese tournament?
