Loss and Win Trading Account Actions

Recently, we took action against players who were engaged in the practice of intentionally losing games and/or automating gameplay in StarCraft II.

This is a reminder that exploitation of any kind will not be tolerated, and can be met with suspension from the game, revocation of achievements and portraits earned, or permanent closure of the offending account. If you're found to be automating your gameplay and/or purposefully losing games or win trading, your account will come under scrutiny, and any of the aforementioned actions may be taken.

I've been playing SC@ on and off. When 6th season started, I played the placement matches - before that, I was in Platinum, after the placements I got into Platinum again. Then the 7th started, played much more, lost a lot of rating, and got to the Silver before I started playing focused again. In one match, I played particularly well but lost due to poor economy - the opponent started insulting me, and said smt about "smurf account" - that's how I learned about the practice of trading wins. Needless to say, if I ever get banned because some idiot thinks I am losing on purpose, I am gona be sooooo pissed off.

@Ghatanothoa: If I am not mistaken, smurf is not win trading, its having a 2nd account, which is ok to do.

To those concerned about race switching - try playing team games during the switch. I switched from T to Z by practising ~20 games vs the AI. Then I read some 4v4 zerg strategy articles to learn about builds that work well in 4v4. Now Ive played about 100 4v4 games, dropping from diamond to silver but just recently got bumped up to gold. In general the 4v4 random crowd is nice to play with and you can work on your mechanics, micro, macro in a fun and very intense environment (90% rush builds). Take that with you and go 1v1. You need some different builds thats for sure but you will have the mechanics, control groups, hotkeys and stuff like that sorted out so you wont be horrible.

I don't get this portrait hysteria at all, why not just play for the fun or the competition of it and you'll get those portraits eventually. Some of them were meant to take some time you know :) As for switching race, i'd say people who play f.e Protoss at a diamond level and can't take Z or T to a plat level should probably not be in Diamond in the first place either :) Long live random :D

This SUX!!!
This practically means that you can't do a race switch.
I switched from P to R without having the slightest clue of how to play the two other races, and had like a 40-10 loose/win record. It just took all the fun out of the game.

If I ever where to switch again I would have done the loosing streak in advance and though my way up, but I guess thats illegal. I could buy several accounts, but it should not be like that.
:(
@GoGoNanaIchi: We've heard this feedback loud and clear. This should be addressed with the implementation of the unranked ladder feature around HotS release.

@GoGoNanaIchi: I think, they'll be taking actions only against players that were playing for 10seconds in each game they've lost. When training, you should have at least 4 minutes before zerg rushes ;)

@Kapeselus:
I hope you can implement an option, so that you can practice a new race in this "unranked matchmaking" feature.
When you are new to a race you will naturally be really bad before you figure things out, so your mmr from your main does not translate very well. So there is very little room for trying out all the races in a fun and competetive way.
As a result, when you do a race switch, you are either forced to do cheeses (and never learn the new race), or try to play standard and loose again and again because you don't know what you are doing yet.
You could fix this with a "redo placement matches for new race" in the practice matchmaking system (or in the ladder system).
It serves no good for anyone with players that are way out of their lauge.
Good to hear that you are working on it!

@GoGoNanaIchi: actually the race differential shouldn't be that bad, like 1-2 at max leagues at part. And actually playing people 1-2 leagues above you will make you learn the race much better then playing your own level (losses teach you more then winnings)

So should I report people that I know have tanked their account to bronze in order to farm wins using a bot or is this just a general reminder and Blizzard is taking the matter in their own hands anyway?
@DrAbuse: This is just a reminder. We locate those players and take action as necessary on regular basis.

Good job blizz.
And VanGore ( and anyone else that thinks the same) when u "buy" these type of games u dont Own anything, u are just buying a license to use the product. This has been brought up in multiple games in the past and for now is not going to change ( in court or not).
As for the banning, if people brake the t&c's they deserve it. All the points blizz make in this post directly affect other non cheating players, rules are there for a reason, just cause u can do something doesnt mean u should be doing it. U can drive 100mh on the road but u shouldnt as its against the law ;P etc etc etc. If ppl dont like it stop playing and make the game a better place for the people that want to play it the way it was intended.

I buy a game and I can use it the way I WANT. Even if a player leaves 5000 games in row, ffs it's his right...
I am fed up of certain companies telling me how I should use a purchased product. I honestly believe that even a banned cheater going to an EU court would take the win. I don't say that cheating is ok, but i think there are certain consumer rights which are simply ignored by all those "bans". So Blizz needs patches in order to prevent cheaters...yeah as simple as that.

This is like Ferrari banning me from using my car, solely because i painted it green with a spray can. Once a product its mine, its mine its mine as long as I don't break any laws. And if i brake a law or not has to be decided by a national court not by some profit oriented company

An EULA, which they can change anyhow any days, will never give them ANY legal right to ban ANYONE of us at least in EU.

@VanGore:
You still have the right to play how you want, but if it's an the expense of the experience others players get from the game, then it's not your right to do so. Hacking ruins the experience for others, so does intentional losses.
You are still free to play customs how you want, play campaign how you want. However iff you want to just beat up a bunch of newbs who are trying to get better, the game just suffers.

Your example is wrong, this isn't like painting a ferrari, but more like running people over with your ferrari and then wondering why you are put in jail, you paid for your ferrari and drivers license, what gives?

@MrCash:
I love the "I buy a ferrari, I can paint it however I want etc".... just lol.

Yes you paid for the ferrari but you must then make sure it is road legal, that you stay within speed limits and that you drive it safely. Guess what, if you don't do those things.... you get BANNED from driving, not just THAT car but EVERY car.

You agree a EULA when you first play the game, that is a legal document. Every game has rules, in fact EVERYTHING in life has rules, every product you buy has some legal requirement you must adhere to or else be face punishment. If you don't get your washing machine fixed and then you blow up your house and kill someone.... guess what, you could go to jail.

@JediTimeLord:

u just dont get it right?

if i do something against the law, it's a court the punishes me. If i do something against an EULA it is a profit oriented company. Do you see the difference?

Is there a LAW in any EU country that bans me from loosing a game? Show it to me and I will understand your POV. If not you better go back to school. Otherwise I will insist on the fact that here a company is abusing there power over paying customers. Simply because nobody that cheats, or looses or what so ever is breaking ANY LAW. I am excluding certain harassment or racist comments as these might be illegal. Then yes...bring the racist to the attorney, but it will be never ever BLizz deciding on the punishment.

@VanGore: You are absolutely right that the car analogy is not 100% accurate as everything considering cars is state regulated.

Let's try a new one: consider an all-you-can-eat restaurant. If you start harassing other guests you will get kicked out whether you are full or not and btw that will happen w/o a court order. If you resist, the restaurant will call the police who escort you from the premises. As you don't have any means to resist an account ban this part is obsolete.

i spoke to a guy who was intentionally losing because he wanted to switch races. being a diamond terran doesnt make you a diamond protoss or zerg, so instead of losing 50 games painfully in a row, he lost them be leaving instantly to be placed 1 or 2 leagues lower.
what are you gonna do about this blizzard? surely people who want to switch up their races a bit shouldnt have to be put through sucha a terrible experience....seeing your stats melt away. hurts just thinking about it.

@Cubix: I understand the reasoning behind it BUT a guy in this yopic already said it. Dosen't matter if you lose cuz you always practice with each match. More GG more skill as White-Ra would say right? If you know that you're gonna lose anyways at least you play it out to see what went wrong and remember you can learn more from higher league players then lower league ones. :)

If you lose, like every game on purpose, within 20 seconds frame, I can see you are misusing the game. But other than that I don't think a minority of people should be punished with more than getting the dislike of the majority plus Blizzard. Just let them be. This is just my little opinion.
Peace! =)

Yea dude but if a master player decides to go into gold to farm portraits he is ruining the fun for guys like YOU. :) If you buy a game you cannot do whatever you want, Blizzard realizes that if leagues are mixing they can potentially lose sales cuz of people saying that the lower leagues are full with master level player who are having FUN :)

blizzard own the game, you own an account to play that game. blizz reserves the right to refuse you entry to that game, just like a night club or pub can refuse you entry or kick you out for misbehaving.

I think the people who don't understand this principle must all be children still because every adult knows that everywhere you go, you have to play by someone else's rules or be thrown out.

Will you tolerate losing streak action, when player wants to race switch?
Just because he can't compete in the same level in the current league.

Myself I don't do this, but id like to hear how you guys react to that.

@MeteoRain: Isn't that clear? Losing games intentionally is against the rules. There is a system called matchmaking which will give opponents of correct level if you just let the system do its job.

In addition to that losing games purposefully is just waste of time, because the matchmaking will notice drop in your performance and start to match you against weaker opponents. And for those who say its better to just give up those games straight away: no it's not. Every game is a possibility to practice.

@Oukka: What this guy said, and MeteorRain dude Blizzard can only punish players who are being reported many times right? So tell me this if you are playing a guy who loses against you in a 10 minute match for some reason would you check his match history? But if a guy quits right after game-start and you watch his match history and you see 10 losses within one minute of each other :) now you will report THAT player.

Every honest and decent player can chill...
