Heart of the Swarm Update - New Video

A large number of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm demo stations were featured at the MLG Spring Championship that ran June 8-10, where attendees sat down to see the future of StarCraft II multiplayer first hand. We wanted to share the excitement with players who couldn’t be there in the flesh, so here’s a video featuring the latest updates to the Heart of the Swarm multiplayer units.

@SmurfGrenade: So as a terran, who mechs in TvZ i can say that the Thor 250mm ability is just so !@#$ing crazy. I mean i dont know where you get that 10 sec stun on the Thor and the 510 damage on autoattack, but the ability will melt ultras like butter. Thors vs Ultras 1v1 wont stand a chance, but the 250mm will just rip them. And the HSM i just soooo awesome, ive been using it with my mech build since season 5, that is just soooo sick!!! Ever seen 15 broodlords and 20 corruptors go down in 2 secs???? Because that is sick i tell you, sick!It does insane amount of damage and AoE!!! Well snipe is bad as it is, need some change... Nothing to say about that! Now the warhound, idk, maybe against toss, maybe not... Too early to say. The battlehellion is great, now you can stand up without microing your heart out against Z and T. And the mines, i like the mines, i dont know how theyll fair against air, but ground units will be ripped up.

@KillaCan: numbers:
1) 2 seconds transform to change in + 6 seconds channeled ability + 2 seconds to transform out = 10 seconds.
2) thor does 2x30=60 dmg per shot. Attack speed is 1.2 seconds. In 10 seconds it means he can perform 8.5 attacks. 8.5x60=510.
3) targeted unit suffers 6 second stun. The stun doesnt apply to ultralisk. It used to and it will again according to information provided by blizzard. But it doesnt right now. Target firing ultralisks therefore leads to same results.
Possible usage:
- in TvT versus another thor (situation just wont ever happen since in TvT thor can be shooting on another thro only when position was lost. Therefore one players army is dead anyway).
- in TvP: hit the immortal (cheaper unit, doesnt justify the fact, thor can be feedbacked) or collossus (only problem is, that collossus has range 9 and cannon 8 and collossus movement is way faster).

Corruptors and brood lords to go fast I have seen but more often i saw all raven attempts to just die to fungal growth. And I watched replays of far better players than me (BeastyQT and Kas namely). The other 2 spells of Raven are very decent at the very least.

Mines I watched video, it takes about 8 seconds to detonate. Speedling counter attack will bring them to your mineral line in less than 2. Unless they dont do a friendly fire, but i know they do.

@RobbyG: I like to incorporate all kind of playstyles and mech needed some more help. But being entirely honest, Goliath would do the job better than Warhound and vulture better than Widow mine.

i Have seen some battle reports and from the little i seen from mlg tvz i think the spider mines are op by far... and the swarm host seems like he is not really useful as alot might think, (maybe lurker could be more useful, but cant judge yet, and cant hope for units that might not come...) also i have a suggestion: i dont know if the changling will be spawned from the viper because it was a good way to scout, but if not i think overlord should have 2 options of evolutions. In sc1 the mutalisk had 2 evolutions and was nice, dont see why not make it in sc2 tbh.

@Deminic: those 2 evolutions are in sc2 already:

- guardian has changed into an evolution of corruptor called brood lord

- corruptor is its own unit unlike an evolution of mutalisk. the reason is mutalisks were so awesome that their evolutions were pretty much never used

So.. why not make really long range Carriers instead? Make basic interceptor launch faster and convert Graviton Catapult into increased range. That way they can still do the whole ultra-long range thing, but the interceptors could be killed so it would shut up the whines. I don't think the current tempest is OP anyway, mostly campaigning for the carrier to stay.

According to Day9's and Rob's game it is clear that HotS will need more micro than in WoL, for example using Oracles and Vipers.

I think that swarm host could be a unit that may be nerfed in future. Vipers may also need to be nerfed somehow. The hydra speed and Ultralisk charge are really good uppgrades, because they will really make this units more useless.

New protoss units and skills heard first kinda OP. But after seeing that game I think Blizz has made really good options. Mothership cores best side is that it will help in PvP to expand earlier as in WoL. Oracle is also a good unit, but it needs little extra APM to use properly.

Terran units seems to be actually here just to help Terran to use different playstyles. Not just bio... I think this is absolutely a good solution.

Now we just wait the release date! :D

As a Terran player loving bio Hots is just too weak. ZvT if u mech up dont worry viper will pull your tanks from a sick range and swarm host will force you to un siege in any scenario. If you decide to bio well just fungal and use viper cloud your roaches hydras will clean it up no problem. Helion transform effectively Firebats that cant be healed by Medivacs. Warhounds smaller thors so is this even a change? Against protoss still have my doubts Protoss was already powerful with even mining and know we must keep our marines at the mineral line to be able to mine? 22 range is this a joke like how can we deal with such an air unit there is no real counter for them except vikings which I am pretty sure they will lose if Protoss starts to mass Tempests. So with current changes I find terran so so weak yes maybe I might be proved wrong but comparing the new unit changes Terran should have been overwhelmingly strong to be able to hold up with it.

Looks good, except terran need some work, but since game probably wont come in next 12 months there is time to do some nice changes with terran.

i dont like viper it will make zerg so over powered
i dont like oracle its just lame
swarm host can be bad but on the other hand it could add so much to the game if you make it work right.
ultra charge and mothership core mega c00l I think it will add a lot of great opportunity to the game,

Terrans I think Mech will be the way to go this expansion ! with hellion that can transform and the warhound and siege tank viking is the ultimate combo with a couple of ravens ! Thank you Blizzard ! Loved the game ! RELEASE DATE ?
