The Koprulu Sector is Coming to a Coffee Table Near You!

The Koprulu Sector is a vast and unforgiving expanse of the galaxy, with diverse and dangerous inhabitants. Three warring factions all strive for galactic domination, resulting in constant and brutal conflicts that span the cosmos. Wherever a faction settles, war soon follows.

Now the war is coming to a coffee table near you! Can you claim supremacy over the battle-torn Koprulu Sector?

RISK: StarCraft Collector's Edition is coming to the UK, offering you a new way to play StarCraft with your friends! This custom RISK board game allows players to assume command of terran, protoss, and zerg factions in strategic warfare set in the StarCraft universe.

The struggles portrayed in the real-time strategy of StarCraft adapt perfectly to classic tabletop RISK gameplay. And just as with the StarCraft we all know and love, the winner here is determined by astute deployment of military might and strategic field tactics.

There are four ways to play the game:

  • Basic Training - quick and easy
  • Command Room - fast-paced and strategic
  • Total Domination - an updated version of the classic game
  • Team Play - take on your opponents in 2v2 and 3v3 modes

RISK: StarCraft Collector's Edition will be available through GAME in the UK starting Friday, November 9 while supplies last. The game retails for £29.99 and comes complete with 333 game pieces. Custom components include: two terran armies, two protoss armies, two zerg armies, six leaders, six custom bases, 15 custom mineral fields, 42 faction/territory cards, a custom game board, and seven dice.

You can pre-order your copy now on GAME.co.uk.

They should do an actual videogame mode based on this. Like the Dark Crusade expansion for Dawn of War. Were you can play against the IA and for every territory that you attack or defend you have to play a battle. And then you get bonuses in your battles depending of what territories you have conquered.

I don't get it... Has there been any previous versions of this game? Cus i can find it on swedish sites where it says the game was released in October 2012 and that it comes with 290 playing pieces instead of 333 as stated above.

Remade (or reprint) old SC and BW games. There is nothing to find in Risk for real players...

I kinda wish you remade the original StarCraft and Brood War games but with SC2 and HOTS units (and later LOTV!) :(

Still, awesome and already pre-ordered :)

@Antimagic: Infinity Games UK, they dispatched same day I ordered and got it his morning, It's great :-) Replicate SC2 with the plastic models :D http://imgur.com/a/GH9dc
@Mark: Nice pictures, although you missed the Protoss figures ;-)

I absolutely love the plastic figures in this game, they are quite detailed for their size... Once I get the game, I am considering painting the figures with the same paint I use for my WH40K army :-)

A nice Variant of Risk, althought it doesn't reflect the game the way the original Boardgame does.

Still a very nice addition for the Starcraft fan.
@AshDurant: Very true.

StarCraft: The Board Game feels more similar to the video game when you play it, mostly because rules and gameplay are designed to reflect the video game as close as possible. This game is a great game, especially if you like fairly complex strategy board games, but it may not be for everyone as it is not the fastest game to play.

RISK: StarCraft Collector's Edition is still RISK, but with a custom board and custom pieces. This game has merged the StarCraft universe with RISK gameplay, which means you get a solid strategy game that still has the StarCraft feel. Like other RISK games it has a nice balance between complexity, strategy, and easy gameplay. i.e. it is easy to learn but hard to master :-)

@Vaneras:

I love the way StarCraft: The Board Game reflects the game.
Especially how the application of a single well placed order can completely catch someone off guard cause a chain of events different from what was intended. That and the battle system, which can be be pretty much controlled beyond the random effect as long as you don't overspecialize and breed in weakness.
Resource harassment also is nicely done.

The Risk version is nice because it is well balanced. The Leaders are well matched compared to for instance Risk: Metal Gear Solid. The use of the upgrade cards is somewhat random but matches the RISK style.

As for Mastering the game, well focusing on your objectives is crucial just like the computer game. And most of all "You always require more minerals" ;-)
