The Iron Squid Strikes Back!

The Iron Squid Strikes Back!

UPDATE:

The four victorious gladiators who will battle on stage for the glorious Iron Squid II trophy are known:

  • NesTea
  • MarineKing
  • Life
  • DongRaeGu

The finals will take place on January 26th in Paris, France at the Palais des Congrès, in front of 3700 Parisian spectators. If you are not able to attend the event, you will still be able to follow the action by watching the stream.

On November 28, the Iron Squid is coming back to Paris! The Iron Squid Chapter II will bring together 32 of the most famous names in the StarCraft II eSports scene to battle it out for a prize pool of $29,000 USD.

The tournament is organized by French eSports phenomenon Pomf & Thud, with commentary in French, English, and Russian. The initial matches will be played online, while the offline semi-finals and finals will be held live on stage in Paris.

The venue for this second chapter is yet to be announced, but here’s a look at the first Iron Squid final in May 2012 at the stately Grand Rex:

The Line-up

The Pomf & Thud team have once again selected a prestigious group of pro gamers to participate. MMA, the winner of the first Iron Squid, will be back to defend his title against some formidable opponents: Mvp, MC, TaeJa, Nerchio, and ThorZaIN, just to name a few.

Check out the full line-up below. Certain players stand out as having a good chance to take the title from MMA. It could be GSL Code S Season 4 champion Life, WCS European champion Stephano, or perhaps WCS world champion PartinG.

Will one of these contenders win the tournament? Or is WCS Korean champion Creator up to the task? Maybe WCS North American champion Scarlett will take the win. Watch the stream to see if your predictions come true!

The Stream

You can follow the group matches on the Iron Squid website linked below starting Wednesday, November 28.

Location and dates for the finals and semi-finals should be announced soon, so stay tuned. Visit http://www.ironsquid.tv/ for more information.

@Ardas: nope, Stephano has been eliminated after his loss 3-0 against DRG in quarterfinals. Life has won 3-1 vs MKP in semi and won 4-3 vs DRG after being leaded by 3-0 in the final

sick line-up but this about 2 month-long event is more like a league not a tournament. you want this to happen over a weekend or so!
their page won't even show the proper schedule, fortunately liquipedia had it all covered as usual:
