We Have A Winner!

We Have A Winner!

It was a month full of fierce competition, shocking upsets, and exciting action as some of the best StarCraft II players in the world went head-to-head during the GSL’s TG-Intel StarCraft II Open Season1 tournament. This past weekend, the competition came to a thrilling conclusion.

We’d like to congratulate Won-Ki Kim (AKA FruitDealer) as the first-ever tournament champion of the GSL! He displayed incredible skill and innovative strategies as he commanded his zerg armies all the way to the top against a field of extremely talented players, finally besting his terran opponent, Sung-Je Kim (AKA HopeTorture). After a decisive series of games, Won-Ki Kim took home a prize of over $85,000.

Thanks again to everyone who participated in the first season of GSL -- the skill all of the competitors displayed during this tournament is an inspiration to StarCraft II players the world over.

If you missed the live games, you can still catch up on all the action by visiting http://www.gomtv.net.

Too bad that the only site allowed to host these videos does so at a terrible low quality. Some standard YouTube channels (if allowed) would have been much better. The commentators are excellent though.

You can find on YOU TUBE some of the games. BTW Fruit dealer has some amasing skill with zerg. It's true that Zerg race is hard to learn and play, but once you master it - it's really imba :)

At least you can no longer say that Zerg is a weak choice of race.

@BrotherDeath:
Sure you can.

If you want to talk about race balance from this tournament alone, you cald say that protoss is weak, since the finals was between a terran and a zerg.

You could however say something like "zerg is not too bad" since one guy managed to win a tournament with that race.

a question comes up again and again; why Europe site has such a delay? do they send the news with chariots or something?
your strategies my friends, insult the very concept of the "internet"; call it "just-net" or something and get it over with.

It's a post, which means copy-pasting a few paragraph from the other site to this one. and it could be easily automated. in other words, the only resource required in order to achieve this simple task is called "management". i'm sorry you're so low on this particular resource.

I think FruitDealer is for the Zerg race in SC2 what Slayer'sBoxer was for the Terran race in SC1.

Fruitdealer is the man. And GomTV is #@!*e. The player broke after the first match for me and I had to find a stream of a stream of a stream. Clearly they couldn't handle the popularity that the GSL ended up having.
Hopefully this will be cleared up for GSL II. I look forward to it =)
