Hi everybody. A question to the noob-counselor: I played through the campaign, but not the multiplayer yet (bought the game a week ago), I wanted to know how much room there is for improvement if I don't play everyday, since I have a very busy life the coming two years, but I want this to be the only game I play besides FIFA.
So once again, how much room for improvement is there for weekend only players? |

Hi KenDM,
I am a weekend player myself and i am playing since release of SCII. I only managed to get into Platinum league so far. BUT it highly depends how much effort you put in your game. What i am trying to say is: If you get some good background information about the game (i.e. by http://day9.tv/ or similar) and you train your mechanics a little bit you can easily catch up to Platinum or Diamond. But if you just a casual gamer who wants to play a game or two and then do something else it could be hard to improve fast. The most important part is to have fun playing the game ^^ and if you dont get frustrated by losing and instead try to learn from mistakes this game can make a weekend PERFECT! (at least for me ;] ) so gg hf and gl for your carrer |

Same issue here. I'm as well the one-night-per-week player and the result is I'll probably die in bronze. At this level, it feels like my nightmare is the keyboard: Whenever I have to look at it to locate the short-keys, I lose focus on micro, scouting, even my macro gets shuffled. So I tried this: Get google, find a typing tutor, set a custom text that will contain only keys used in game and tried to type them against time with my left hand ONLY. The result was 76 kpm(keys per minute) with under 80% accuracy. And that without being distracted by other activities like using the mouse, looking at the mini-map and thinking about the paths of your strategy. The conclusion is: As bronze, it does little difference on how good you know the openings and how deep goes your knowledge about positioning, army composition and mining/production balancing. As soon as I get into the mid-game, I get dragged way back by my inefficiency in using the keyboard with my left hand. |
