Topic Crash when logging into account?

When I disconnect my internet connection and open the game it asks be to play offline, so I play offline and the single player campaign works fine. On the other hand, when I am connected to the net, my account logs in and immediately crashes after log in. It crashes without any messages, just closes and goes to windows. Now since offline mode works, i suspect it's not a hardware of driver issue (although i'm no expert on this).

To add to this, i've been playing online fine for the last few days and today this pops up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit
cpu: i5 750
ram: 4gb
video: radeon 5570 1gb

I have the same problem, after I log into battle.net I go to the next screen for 2-3 seconds and then it shuts down without any error message.
My windows application & system log do not have any messages. I updated all my drivers, closed all other applications. Nothing seems to be helping tho.

It worked fine 2 days ago but now all I can do is look at the pritty logon screen. :/

edit: I'm also running Windows 7 64 bit
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
Creative SB X-Fi 5.1

Also tried to update all my drivers etc.

I think the problem is that SC2, when trying to update to the new patch, does not recognize my internet connection as a valid internet connection since I am using wireless broadband with a mobile device. I also had connection issues when I first installed the game. When first installing, the game needs to be verified before installing and SC2 gave a message that a internet connection cannot be found so I had to verify the game manually. The first update installed fine, but now with the new update it crashes when i log in.

Blizz, please help on this issue

DieHaas, seems you were right, I switched broadband providers (Was Vodacom SP, just in case anyone here happens to be with the same one), and it works fine now.

glad to help dsmZA.

I have no way to switch service provider since I only have access to one. would be nice if blizzard added a mirror somewhere where we could download the stand alone patch from since my game works fine, but the updater is screwed.

Also, I've tried to run repair.exe but it looks like it also has the same issue as the updater in that it does not view my internet connection as a valid internet connection.

This is really frustrating. I've spent the whole day trying to fix this and no luck so far.

I got it to work...

I disabled all none MS services and disabled all startup programs. After which it worked, but since I need some of those applications I reactivated them 1 by 1, rebooted every time until I found the program causing it.

For me it was 'Comodo Internet Security'. So now I'm running without any Firewall or AntiVirus program...

Even though it works now, could you (Blizzard peeps) get in contact with Comodo to see what it causing this? Because working with an unprotected pc kinda makes me nervous.

If you dont know how to disable your services and startup apps, here's how:

Open the RUN command box (press the Windows button + R)
type MSCONFIG
goto Services and check at the bottom : Hide all MS serv..
then click disable all
goto Startup
click disable all
press ok and reboot your system

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for the info Flaming,

I tried this and still no luck. I tried uninstalling the game after above didn't work and now I am provided with a screen that says, "Starcraft 2 needs an update. Install update now?", with a OK and Cancel button. When I press the OK button the screen goes black and a second later the same message pops up and this keeps happening. I don't know what to try next. Very very frustrated. Plz, some help Blizzard. Would really appreciate it. Been trying for 6 hours now.

same here, it was fine three days ago, now when I try to log in, when I click "connect to battle.net" i hear a beep and suddenly, I can see my desktop, no error message, or anything of the sort. Other links in the login screen work though. Tried disabling my AV software, but it doesn't do the trick >.>

Hi,
It may or not be the same problem, but...
SC2, latest patch as of Oct,1st , windows 7
after typing email, click connect and everything disappears.
no event log, no launcher log, nothing...
disabled windows fwall, and ran under xp compat mode, admin, etc, nothing.
exited COMODO - nothing; COMODO game mode, nothing...
BUT
when with comodo on, but on the safety levels, everything disabled, VOILÁ!
So - comodo internet security, even after "exit" is still doing something. leave it on, but with everything disabled... duh
Oh well
Good luck

Make sure Internet Explorer is not running in offline mode, and that in Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings, it is not configured to use a proxy.

Not sure if this will work in buffer overflow protection exclusions but it might be worth trying.

"drive:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II\Versions\*\SC2.exe"

Dennis
Ah Dennis, you, magnificent Comodo god Love. That does work as intended. I removed my previous exception and added yours. The game did not crash. I can expect this to keep working after a patch. Wonderful Smiley.
