I hope to get some reply from a Blizzard representative on a serious bug(?) I have that is ruining my game. I've emailed twice without reply and tried to call their support line (which seems to be a joke because they constantly say the queue is so long that queueing is not possible.
After playing campaign for a while I thought it was weird I could never build tier 2 and 3 buildings. There was for example spectre upgrades to buy at the armory of Hyperion but I could never build any in-game. So I asked a friend and he said he could do it. I then tried to play 1v1 vs the AI and also 2v2 online vs othe rplayers and same thing there. I could only build the barracks and engineering bay (+bunker, turrets and that scouting tower). There was no factory to build or any other tier 2 buildings, and there's not even a gryed out icon at the scv menu showing it's even possible to get in the game. I tested out zerg, and same thing. Can only build roaches and zerglings! Naturally this si severaly ruining my gaming experince. I'm surprised I've managed to almost beat the campaign on hard =P But after that's done, I cannot go play online if this is not fixed :( In the campaign, if I am given a factory, starport etc to start with or later int he game, then I can use it and build units formit. But I cannot build an additional starport etc. So the problem seems to lie at the scv's, drones etc where the build option is missing.I can upgrade hatchery, but there's no spires or anything available to build, and no greyed out icon. Please help me! Anyone else who ran into this? An odd bug to say the least. I didn't have Vista SP1 or 2 when I installed the game, which it was prompting me about. However I've installed them now and also reinstalled SC2 and it still hasn't helped. That was the only thing I could think might help :( I'm running on an AMD 2,5 Ghz quad-core, 4 GB RAM, 2 crossfire Radeon 4870 (I think) on Windows Vista Business. |

As you see, I already tired to this. I also spoke to the phone support and they said they'd send me an email to answer some questions, but I never got such email (and no, it's not stuck in spam filter either). Sorry Blizzard but this is really crappy support, at least you could reply saying you have no idea or something. or offer a refund as the game is pretty useless to me now without any fix. I've been waiting to play SC2 for years, this si extremely disappointing. |

No offense taken, but seirously I am not a newbie. I played Starcraft I for many years and I know how to construct the buildings...
Like I stated, the icons are not there and greyed out. They are for the turrets for example as it's a tier 1,5 building. But there are none for the factory, or any else. Instead of the icon, there's simply an empty box. And this goes for all the three races. I have looked through the tech tree to make sure they should have been enabled. I've alsop tried to build every possible building and do every possible upgrade on every race to see if it would unlock anything, and it hasn't, so I am really not mistaken. I would have taken a screenshot of it, but now a new problem has occured(!). I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it into the default folder (which I hadn't before, so I was thinking maybe this could help). But now I cannot log into battle.net! After filling in my username and pwd, the "enter" button comes up, but now without my profile pciture. Instead there's an empty box. I hit enter and it greyes out (well it's still orange but shaded) and then nothing happens. I'm stuck in this mode for maybe half a minute, then kicked back to login menu. I'm trying everything I can think of but nothing works. And firewall is disabled...this was no problem before! So now I can't even log in to the game, sigh. |

As for the email sent to me, it was not in response to my phone call yesterday. instead it was a response to a previously sent mail. After the phone call they said they'd send some some questions and some steps to follow through, but I was never sent such a mail. The mail I got eysterday only said it's been forwarded to the tech support and that they could not even guarantee they'd get back to me. Doesn't very reassuring on an issue like this. This game is clearly faulty. Tomorrow I'll borrow a cd froma friend to check if something's wrong with my cd...but then I'd need to be able to log into b.net too...

this does just sound like you didn't press the advance build button next to the tier 1 build button since turrets barracks etc is in the build button but starport and factory are both in the advance build button.
http://www.sc2blog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Battle.net-chat-overlay.jpg in the bottom right corner is the scv options there are 2 build buttons on the bottom row, one looks like a bunker other a bunker with a halo, do you have both of them when you play ? i mean no offense by saying this it just really sounds like you didn't press the right button |

Thank you Incarnet, that solves the problem. I didn't know they have two buttons now, I was actually thinking of that earlier when I read the posts, that I ought to check every single button (I did check most of them just not that one...arrgh) but then I couldn't log onto b.net.
I checked now and you were absolutely right, and I am a compelte newbie...arrgh. Well thank you ever so much, because it saved my day =) |

haha thanks Undo and yeah this was pretty embarrassing. but hey, at least I admitted it and posting it here instead of just sneaking away continuing playing lol.
And as for the campaign, well you do get some t2 structures from start and I could use them build my t2 units. But really, I mostly just used the mercs and then massed one of the t2 units depending on map some my single building ;) merz: UI dont remmeber that...but otoh it was amny years ago I played it lol. |
