same happened to me. blizzard solve this something, u have bunch of people complaning. but engb installes as default dont be lazy

Noticed that if your language is English (US) it will default to German version.
This is probably because it tries to map to English (US) client but that is not available in the Europe category so the first alternative is selected. Setting your language to English (EU) will make things work as expected. A user will probably not notice/care about US or EU Eng being used on the site so making a fix for this would be nice. |

The reason for this is alphabetical : )
Available Regions : North America /Latin America /Europe /Russia /Taiwan /Southeast Asia & ANZ Available Languages for Europe: Deutsch /English (EU) /Español (EU) /Français /Italiano /Polski / Deutsch comes first :( P.s Downloaded Deutsch one too. . . |

Just had this too. Downloaded the Engb downloader and it downloaded and installed the german version. So that's 7gb of my broadband allocation (and over 8 hours due to the crappy download client) wasted.

Same here. Well, actually I only downloaded half of it before I realized. And I don't have quota's on my bandwidth. So, I ain't really complaining, but...
To all the people saying "quit whining": no. This thing is broken, definitely. First of all, you have your language settings in your account management. As Blue said in this very thread, one could expect that if the page is all in German (it's not), the download will be in German by default. Same logic should apply to English, no? But more importantly: I can select to switch language, pick English, press the "Save" button right next to it and start downloading English client. However, next time I visit the download page, it's back to German. It's broken. :) |

Personally, I am just cross that Blizzard have not done anything to make the language choice more obvious. It is so discrete and, having wasted 6 hours already, it makes me so annoyed that I now have to wait an extra 16 hours (thanks to capped evening internet speed) for it to download just because I don't have my disc on me.
Surely it would not be too difficult for Blizzard to implement an option that pops up! Simply, click 'Download Game Client' and then a little box saying 'Which language would you like?'. Please, sort this out. It really is simple, but so very infuriating for those of us who get caught out by it. |

I fell for this trap as well... I do think that it is idiotic that the default language is German, it should be English.

same, proper !@#$ing pissed off i only have a 15GB allowance aswell.
What do you expect from blizzard tho, the company gets more retarded as time passes by,stuff like this should just be the expected norm. Even age of empires 1 has the option to change the language in the game, not download a separate client.... i mean seriously? W.T.F? its a standard feature. Edit- i wouldn't mind if the Multi Billion pound company that is blizzard didn't have such a crappy down-loader/installer, another pathetic failing of blizzards. Its a good job you make great games, or no-one would put up with your !@#$ty customer experience. |

An earlier post suggested you check the language version first and manage your account.
The problem has nothing to do with managing your account, since the account page and the version at the bottom of the client page simply states Europe. It's not until you click on the download link that the installer defaults to Dutch. Under full game client the page text is designed in such a way that you can easily miss the following: Europe /Deutsch(Change) The text is small particularly on my 1900x1080 17" laptop and is very easily missed. Surely common sense has too take precedent here. If your on an English language page, why should you have to be extra vigilante to the fact that you will inadvertently download a foreign language installer. Having to manually change to English EU is counter intuitive to the customers user journey. Sort this out web monkeys, it's a bit piss poor. |

Me too, "Sie haben nicht genug Mineralien!"
Starter for 10 for Blizzard (multiple choice quiz): Which is the closest match to English (US) to be used for the Starcraft 2 game client when somebody with a UK IP address downloads it from your website and is viewing the website in English: 1. English (EU) 2. English (EU) 3. English (EU) At least make it clear what language is being used, 7GB is a pretty hefty download considering there's no recourse to change the language in-game. |
