Madeye, here is roughly what happens when ladder lock is in effect:
1) Bonus pool stops being increased (on this occasion there is a bug as you know) 2) You cannot be promoted or demoted But, your MMR will still change every game you play. So keep playing and try to improve and win more. If you do win more when the next season begins you might have done well enough to be placed into the next league up. Points continue to be awarded just as before, except there is no new bonus pool. You can still use bonus pool that you have accumulated but not yet used. Changes in points mean changes in division rank, and your final division rank gets you a "feat of strength" achievement. Some advice though. Don't pay much attention to division rank (or even to league for that matter). It doesn't mean much. Even leagues are not a great indicator of skill since you can have two platinum league players with similar rank one of whom is about to be demoted to gold, the other promoted to diamond. Since you don't have the MMR information what can you really learn from comparing these players? This is the root cause of much of the anger on this forum... people think the ladder is straight forward and transparent, and it is not. Hence they don't understand why players they think are similar in skill are actually not. |
Supposedly they 'converge' on your MMR... Which would actually mean something if everyone played in a single league in a single division and there was no bonus pool. :P |
well over time, assuming no league changes and no bonus pool, i guess they would get close or converge as you say but in its current form points are at best a weak indication of a players strength (except for highest leagues & highest points). |
how so? Its much easier for a bronzie to get 1k points than a masters player (easier games) that dosent mean the bronzie has a higher MMR than the masters player |
