Many people struggle against many different races for different reasons. A common one ive noticed recently is some terran struggling vs brood lord as well as struggling vs late game toss The idea of this thread is instead of people venting anger in other threads, they say what they have an issue with, maybe suggest what they could change (little or big) or just read other peoples posts. For example: i play both P and T and i know how hard late game TvP can be. So i have been thinking of different styles of builds. Note this is theorycrafting so it could be absoloute junk. So anyway i had two ideas. The useage of late game reapers when terran reaches 3/3 firstly the d-10 charge rips apart buildings and they also rip apart probes. Also the idea of combing this with either tank/viking/ghost or thor/viking/ghost as an army comp (allthough it is very gas intensive) The role of terran air in TvP For example going banshee raven with vikings and into battleship? allthough i realise its hard to be able to tech that far without being crushed by a push. Thats the extreme of this thread. I also wanted people to cover things like What is the correct ratio of medivacs to ground units? What role should vikings take when toss tech switches from collosi - harrass or army comp? What ghost count to HT/zealot ratio is optimal - same with infestor What viking to collosi ratio is optimal - same with broodlord So suggest your ideas or give advice, obviously some people will give ideas or advice which is wrong but dont flame them for it, just correct them. And also whining, as much as it is relieving, is just a waste of your time, so be direct with what you want to say |

There are a few people talked about gas use for Terran. I wonder if it is useful to get reapers in the main ball. Most people use MM has main army and they are indeed powerful but against the likes of zealots with upgrades, they don’t really kill them fast enough without suffering splash damage. If reapers can hide behind marauders, they do huge damage against zealots and they can be really good if the bioball and kite well enough to get away from colossi or HT. You can also run around the death ball with reapers to snipe HT if you dare, it is actually better than losing ghosts to do so.
In TvT or TvZ, I think 10 or so reapers in late games should decent to kill tech buildings and they can support the drop units. Well, you already mentioned it anyway… What is the correct ratio of medivacs to ground units? I personally think there should be 1 medivac for 8 units of bio you have. Assuming you are not surrounded, the unit in the front that will suffer damage are about 10 unit. At max, there will probably be 80 units worth of bio and with Medivac healing the front units, there should be about 8~9 medivacs with 70 SCV and some other supporting units such as tanks or vikings. Obviously, if you have mass tanks, you don’t need so many medivacs for the less amount of bio you have. What role should vikings take when toss tech switches from collosi - harrass or army comp? I would say harass but terran should not have too many Vikings to begin with. What ghost count to HT/zealot ratio is optimal - same with infestor This is hard to say, I really doubt that people can control the amount of ghosts so well to a fixed number. I personally will get as many ghosts as I can afford in both TvP or TvZ because the snipe, EMP and their light bonus are a very good against both Protoss units or Zerg units. I would not get so many ghosts in TvT even I am nuking. What viking to collosi ratio is optimal - same with broodlord I would say 2 against one colossi. Against zerg though, I would actually get as many Vikings as possible if I am sure zerg is getting a lot of air units. Two reasons: first of all, you may not have enough Vikings anyway because infesters and corrupters can kill them very quickly. Secondly, you should have 10 or more rax at that time and full wall for the main bases. You can switch back to marines very quickly but hard to remax with air. When I see broodlord tech coming, I will drop all my marines to his expansions, if I do damage, great. If not, I realise units supply for Vikings. |
