Should I get lessons?
|
Just play more games man, you'll get the hang off it sooner or later, just don't care if you loose, your a noob, of you loose against more experienst players. Just play the game, and try to learn from it.
And it might help you out to get an oppening build for each match up. You might wanna try the other races out some more as well, one of them might fit your play stile more:) And if not, it's always good to have some knowlege about how the other races work:) |

Watch dApollo's tutorials, he made one for each race. Granted, the Zerg ones are the oldest by now their gameplay pilosophy holds true nonetheless - make drones until a push is coming.
You can find them here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0B7058D9D46661D1&feature=plcp |

ju8st fraking play to begin with hehe you don't need a coach to tell you what race to play neither do you need one to tell you how to play, get some "good basics from Day[9] some of the first noobday tuesday's are great, like that all you realy need to get started be frindly in chat and once u meet someone you have a good match with add them after the game and ask if they want to play a few games to practise and talk about the games (talking about the games you play will in general improve your understanding and will make it more fun and you will slowly develop a social network within the game.

I would say getting lessons is not really a good idea until you're around platinum level.
The best way to get improvements (and for free!) is, as others have suggested, post you're replays on the forums and ask for some help\advice. You will find many people here who're extremely helpful. Watching streams, casts (Day9) and tournaments are always good. Apollo's learning tutorials are also good, but I think not so helpful to bronze players as his control and understanding are beyond a normal bronze players. The main problem with lower bronze players is generally that they are playing the game in the wrong way, but without seeing replays I cannot really offer much more advice. Good things to do are watching a replay and noting down unit counts, then comparing it to you own. In your own replays, it is best to actually look at what your opponent is doing rather than what you were doing. Note down their timings, when did they attack, when did warpgate finish? When did their first push occur? etc. These timings are what you will base your scouting upon, and what you will be looking for etc. [EDIT] Also, do not be too worried about panicking while playing. This is the same for everyone as they start out. Nerves will relax after you become more comfortable with the game, always tell yourself to relax but don't let the fact you're not relaxed stress you out. Time and experience will help it fade away. |

1. pick a terran or protoss, at least for me, zerg is the hardest (unless you wanna 5 minutes games)
2. At bronze league you dont have to be nervous from anything - you cant get any lower 3. Just practice, lose 20 games trying 4 gate and 21st game you will get the timing and own untill diamond 4. 2v2,3v3 and 4v4 are your best friends if you are nervous, at least for me it is relaxing from 1v1 and you can practice there your openings while there is good chance that your teammates will carry you if you fail |

I took a quick look at the last two games lost on your profile. Now, I don't have a replay so take this with a pinch of salt. As it's all just based on the end-game statistics:
Both were ZvT games: You have around 75 workers created in both games, which is fine especially at bronze. Your resource collection rate was relatively the same as the terrans? Also, your overall resources with about the same. This suggests you expanded too slowly to me (again, I could be wrong). This would make sense if you had similar or slightly more workers (due to mules), but you had over double their workers :) You had around 5000 unspent resources, which is probably due to lack of lava injects and\or the number of of bases you had. I would actually guess you were only on two bases, but again that's just off the top of my head based on the stats. Also, just to note on Honzik, bronze league players do not so much get nervous due to being afraid of losing. The nervousness comes from not knowing what to do, all the things flying around their heads. Trying to keep track of what they're doing and what they're opponent is doing. All these things flying around is what makes you panic + nervous at that level. It is just experience that cleans it out of the system. Just to explain really :) But indeed as Honzik says, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 are great ways to calm your nerves. For the reasons Honzik gives. |

Play versus friends and then give each other feedback on the gamepaly. Try to challenge each other to begin with before you do actual versus matches, perhaps something like "get the first Mothership out while maintaining probe and gate unit production" or something. Make it fun but "realistic".
When it comes to coaches... Well, your will to learn from them is just as important as their will and ability to learn you their tricks. Things like keeping yourself from getting supply blocked for example, is something you can learn by reading guides or just playing VS AI while trying to get a massive ball of units out without blocking yourself. For terran, it is pretty much to have 1 supply SCV building supply depots at all times. Then later when unit production goes up, add 1 more so two SCV's build at all times and then a possible third IF you pump food intensive units like colossi or Thors. Same goes for worker production. It is actually quite easy to see when the mineral field is over saturated (workers are standing still at mineral or gas lines) Max 3 workers per gas or mineral node. That means roughly 30 workers per base (24 in mineral line, 6 in gas). For terran, it is pretty much to have 1 supply SCV building supply depots at all times. Then later when unit production goes up, add 1 more so two SCV's build at all times and then a possible third IF you pump food intensive units like colossi or Thors. |

If you dont know destiny, he is a pro gamer who has a very popular stream. He won every game up to platinum by only massing queens. The point you prove with this is that whatever strategy/build you go, by just realying on good mechanics you can make it to platinum. So my suggestion is to learn a 1 base build and just play it over and over. When your practiciing mechanics on that level you can play the build against bots, in teamgames and in 1v1s. Here is one build for each race.
zerg: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/1_Base_Roach terran: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/6Rax_Allin protoss: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/4_Warpgate_Rush all builds works against all races. And when it comes to picking a race, what i did i sticked with the race where i liked the mechanics of it the most. Question yourself if you like inject and creepspread with the larvae prodution or the orbital with scans and mules or the way chronoboost and warpgate functions. And pick your race after that, it helped me atleast :) |

Ive hardly had any rushes its usually a case of they're army overpowers mine in both strength and number, alot of the time vs terran i cant get a good engage because they turtle with masses of rocket turrets, siege tanks and bunkers I could just sit there and wait for him to come out, but by that time hes probably got enough thors and siege tanks to do enough aoe to burst through most armys.
Never asked for your permission i asked for your opinion, since theres a good amount of people that say yes and a good amount of people who say no. 4. 2v2,3v3 and 4v4 are your best friends if you are nervous, at least for me it is relaxing from 1v1 and you can practice there your openings while there is good chance that your teammates will carry you if you fail as in customs or ladder? because from what ive heard match making is the shambles for everything above 1v1 and from my experience in the 3 2v2 customs ive done 1 is usually someone who is about as new and struggleing at the game such as myself, and the other is usually the carry according to the tally at the end so even if i did do customs theres a good chance i could be going agansit a premade when me and the random could be on the same skill level as eachother and were not capable of carrying. I usually calm myself by just playing a bunch of custom games such as starbattles which is great fun, even tho im not nervous I did get a headache which was odd, but thats probably because of the amount of stomp its just been. As for my previous games regarding units is mostly due to the fact of my thoughts which at that stage when i have that much money i think, right ive got all these minerals and gas so now what? in other words i dunno what the hell to do with it to get a decent use out of it. As for people saying go watch destiny,day9 and dignitas appolo been there done that. I could put up my replays but its usually the same problem everytime, they're army out way masses mine because ive not poked them enough to disrupt economy and usually the enemy never goes for a 3rd so he just sits, turtles and mines out of 2 while amassing a huge army. |

Many players have trouble with turtle tactics at the start. If they turtle up, the best thing to do is let them. Just monitor that they don't get more bases, and have an extra base yourself. It leaves you open to utilize zerg ability to out macro everything. Be greedy as hell, tech up to hive, get upgrades, etc. If you mine more gas than your turtle friend on the other side of map, you've pretty much going to smash him. Let him come to you rather than the other way around. Throw a few replays to drop.sc or some similar replay sharing site, and the people here can show you tons and tons of ways for improving, be it having effective build orders, or helping with some basic reactions to the information you saw. |

I think zerg might be the hardest at bronze, since if you keep forgetting injects (which you most likely will if you are new to the game) you wont have enough larvae to spend your money especially if your trying to get lings, you will be floating alot, and you might feel overwhelmed by their army due to this.
You will most likely be floating with the other races aswell but they might be slightly easier to start with for a new player, and you might have a somewhat easier time to spend your money. Protoss might be the easiest to start with if you want to macro, since you can go for quite a similar unit composition in every matchup and do reasonably well at lower lvl (colossus + gateway units). |
