The little truth about game balance

Cannon rushes suck.
It doesn't take any more skill to win against them than it takes to execute them. The key thing is to know how to respond, and make sure you scout your base if you see no gateway in the opponents main. The only players that don't know how to respond are bad players (regardless of league, they are bad). It's their fault for not knowing what to do. Also like someone said, cannon rushes are very rare in PvT and PvZ (sometimes cannon contain). They are only common in PvP, which is irrelevant to win rates anyway. Finally, the OPs logic is completely flawed. How about this statement: "zomg if we removed marines from the game terrans win rate would be like 10% terran is UP we need a buff". Lol get out. |
How can you come to the conclusion this game is balanced when the overall win ratios are skewed with over-powered rushes like cannon rush? And that brings me to another topic, if cannon rush wins are pushing protoss up to 50% win ratio, that must mean they are under-powered elsewhere... such as gateway units. Where would protoss win ratios be at without cannon rush? 40%? 35%? I'm sure Blizzard would not call that balanced at all. 1. i dont know what statistics they got, but if they have all leagues, they will always go to +-50% winrate, as matchmaking is trying to do that for you. Since people in Blizzard arent that stupid, they surely use only a small part of game (GM, perhaps also master since master is just 4,5% of players) and there cannonrush fails in almost every single game, leaving only 3rax bunkerrush agains zerg and 1-1-1 agains toss to really make any differences... And it will be so small part of games, that it is irrelevant, not only because it happens so rarely, but also because Z and P were forced to learn how to deal with it... (i dont say that other races dont have its cheeses, just that their cheeses are much easier to counter... based on watching tournaments) 2. cannonrush is not overpowered. If you are aware of your base, you can deny it with few workers. There are IMO much more successful all-ins like 3rax bunkerrush (well, not exactly all-in because terran can recover from that easily) or 6pool... |
