They focus on WoW now. They don't have too much reason to go back to WC XD. What with Dota 2, LoL and HoN on the market it wouldn't really be the best investment. Granted some people will buy it for the story but they don't think in the 1000's they think in the millions XD.

World of Warcraft existing does not imply that there'd not be a Warcraft 4. I cannot give a source, but I believe even Blizzard has said this when WoW was announced and many RTS fans were concerned. Warcraft RTS has a very different variety of playstyles in comparison to Starcraft 2, and this is a breed of RTS a lot of gamers love. I'd not be surprised if Blizzard eventually explored the opportunity to bring that type of RTS back to the shelves at some point, and Warcraft seems perfect for it.
Personally I'd love an RTS version of the events that transpired in WoW. RTS has a way of telling the story a little better at times, in my opinion. Edited for better flow. |

Harsh! It depends on your preferred play style I guess, some just get on better with the fast-paced story-telling in an RTS campaign rather than experiencing it on the ground in the thick of it, drawn out over several months / years like it's done in WoW. |

Warcraft is also a slower and less chaotic game. It's possible for Blizzard to develop WC4 in a way that strays farther from SC2, and perhaps continues to borrow elements from Diablo (such as heroes).
Btw, I'm kinda on AlexOdhin's page here : ) Just start off where WoW eventually stops and try to kill off all the bullsh!t WoW-characters/races/places as quickly as possible in the story : ) "Oma-crap, Deathwing had a final twitch and the earthquake killed everyone who looked even remotely cute..." |
WoW is a good game in terms of game style but the most part, about 75% of the story line is just gibberish and I despise it. I understand the creator's attraction to comic books but this just does not fit here. |

From a marketing standpoint, it would probably be a bad idea to make an "RTS version" of WoW's key plot points, as the game would be branded as a "rehashed WoW" or something of the like. I only stated that something like that would be interesting to someone like me who is a lore savvy, and likes hearing or seeing the story from different angles.
From a marketing standpoint, it'd make much more sense for a "Warcraft 4" to pick up wherever WoW leaves off should they choose to stop developing on that game. Besides, new lore and new plots are always better. |
There's one more problem with the WoW story, other than it being drawn out; if you don't have a guild/party you miss out on a lot of high-level content (raids, etc.) and their bits of Lore. That is, if you want to experience it first-hand, for everything else there's WoWpedia, forums and so on. Personally, I'd love a new Warcraft RTS. I was a big Warcraft III / TFT player back in the day and I actually miss that play style. |
That's no longer true since patch 4.3, which introduced the LFR. Its like the LFD, except its for raids, and its basically a faceroll (as long as you don't go on Tuesdays, as that's when all the bads go and you'll wipe rather often). All content is accessible at any difficulty you desire in WoW now. |
Like, split up in 2 different directions within the same universe? |
