So here's the new trailer of HoTS released by blizzard

OR

Actual Gameplay: PvsZ

http://youtu.be/0gcs52bErU4

1) I found the Protos Oracle way too strong, weh, So now we have to send an Overseer with our army to prevent Cloak Field, but what about the mineral fields? Our anti air is kind of crap, what can we do to stop it :/

2) Tempest range is OMG, 22 Range? Low damage they say atleast, it's going to !@#$ up our zergling,

3) The Terran Mines? Pretty good, but is there a way to see the unit that has been attacked by the mine, maybe with an overseer?

4) Swarm Host, Meh, I find it kind of useless, I mean.. you just have to waste 1 damn Scan or to create 1 observer and they are down, when they spawn the locust the tank istantly attack the Locust and the Swarm host gets damage too, so not-so-infinite attack

5) The Viper is Kinda cool, Thumbs up for it.

What do you think? :-\

Swarm Host, useless? I'm just going to state a quick fact about it:

It attacks air and ground.

Like using it instead of Hydralisk against Drops and Void Rays?
Looks more effective as a defense unit

It just looks like a completely different game with SC2 graphics rather than SC2 with some minor additions.

Hmm that is true. The true question is though, do you think that is a good thing or a bad thing?

Maybe It's the map + the new creep color and the game style of both players, this match has been chosen to show the new mechanics, it was not an actual ladder match

I really hope that hots wont change too much to sc2. because sc2 as it is now is perfect in my opinion and it does not need a change.

The one thing that really caught my eye was the Widow Mines. I mean really, they are anti air AND anti ground? That seems a bit strong especially when they were able to kill everything (at least what was shown) as One Hit KO (+splash).

I remember a text description somewhere saying it'd only cloak buildings. If that is the case it's use would be limited to base defence for the most part.

My observations:

1) Viper abduct looks ridiculous. Colossi and Tanks have weight, and this snake swings them around like yoyos. Between this thing and Battle Cruisers swooshing around with superspeed I really wonder whether they really want this game to become a parody of itself.

2) Players in show matches either have zero creativity or are forbidden to use creativity. Plenty of new stuff has ridicilously obvious abuse potential yet the players only use it in "intended" ways. Irritating to watch sometimes.

3) Why again can't we have that Hydra speed upgrade in the next patch instead of having to wait for HotS? Oh right, moneyz.

4) Snow maps look awesome.

5) Tempest range and Oracle speed - lol. Widow mines on the other hand... kinda cool at the first glance.

1) The games are scripted and pretty much planned out.
2) The main purpose of the showmatches is to show off the new units.
3) This is all an Alpha build. Everything can, and will be changed (both in balance, as in units and gameplay).

Here's the TvZ showmatch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceRs4iOmLco

There you go. :)

I think the Oracle is fine overal, but is going to be a complete pain in the !@# for lower skill players (me). Doing an awesome battle, even doing some macro at the same time, only to find out that your Drones have been standing still for 5 minutes. :D

Hurray for Mothership staying in the game though. :)

Battlehelions are Firebats 2.0, Widow mines are going to force Zerg to get some Overseerers on their army (yay for Overseerers staying!). I just dislike the Warhound... focussing all Mech units? I thought Merauders were here for that roll as well, but Warhounds do it automaticly...

I like all the Zerg changes overall. The Swarmhost seems like a lot of fun, and somewhat underated by some people here. The damage on those guys is actually pretty damn high. Just adding in around 4-5 Swarmhosts in your army means 8-10 'free' high damage units to reinforce your army, and allow you to contain people in their base, or force a fight. I think we'll have to wait for them to actually come out.
OZI
the new ZvT
terran:
step 1: make reapers, with the combat drug upgrade.
step 2: make widow mines

Then try to kill all the drones without losing the reapers, place widow mines outside the zerg base. Keep doing that until you win.

Zerg:
make zerglings, and hope you can kill the reapers before they kill you

step 2: make widow mines

Step 1: Build a Roach or two, or a Spinecrawler. Combined with the Queens, you're safe.
Step 2: Run some Zerglings into mines one by one and trade 25 recourses, against 75 recourses (if I remembered the numbers correct).

Overseer + Queen + Hydras/corruptors/infestors. It's the same as the warp prism but it doesn't do damage.

Splash damage vs air though... Brood lord infestor is screwed. The toss can snipe everything with just a few of these babies.
It'd be a good unit if they decreased range, increased damage and got rid of the mothership entirely. It's a skillful counter to infestor brood lord even if it was created accidentally.

You can see the timer no matter who you are. I think that the timer is too long given the circumstance.

You're implying that we're all going to plant our swarm hosts in range of tanks... I'm not that dumb. Infestor swarm host will be very good imo.

5) The Viper is Kinda cool, Thumbs up for it.

Silly unit but it's definitely a fairly good idea. I say this because it's very obviously going to be OP in ZvP. Infestor viper as a lategame followup. "I think I'll just neural parasite a unit after I abduct it... Oh look I just used toss units to kill a toss army."

Just an FYI, I'm zerg.
I think that zerg wont be going brood lord infestor very soon after the release because it'll be obselete and the viper, hydra, swarm host will be insanely good with infestors.

I'm pretty sure the area of effect part of the Tempest has been completely removed. It's just a long range air unit. It's designed for Protoss to be able to initiate fights.

Well it is the most Expensive air unit by protos and I think it needs some kind of Tech, so the toss is not able to make tempest instead of void rais.

Yeh but the oracle will stop our mining, and when the shields disapear our drones won't even start re-mining again so its a finger in the !@# every 50 energy or something

So blizzard has actually REMOVED something that would make the matchup better. What a surprise. It'd also make PvT a little easier for collosi builds. Perhaps too much easier. I'd guess they would increase the armour rating of vikings or decrease their "clump-ability" to get rid of that and it'd make it easier to go vikings in TvZ as well against infestors. See? I could balance this game better than Blizzard.
