Hoa...i feel you man im high plat myself and i have the exact same problem...pvp is eez, pvt is fun and ok, i'm not really affraid. But man PvZ is god damn broken. You start with Nexus forge he rushes you or overwhelm you, you start with forge he will have 3 bases you will have 2 AND even a bigger army....a !@#$ that. And i swear i don't know how to herrass zerg...if i go with warp prism he doesnt care !! he will rush my base while he stays on 3 bases....and i spent 700 minerals to delay mining a little...DT ? fascinating....roaches rush my base...roaches roaches roaches oh c'mon ! if i try to actually go with the army to destroy a base he will zerg me with zerglings and i will lose all my army...call me a noob but i really don't know what to do either ~_~

Btw HoA ...i found a way i just changed my playstyle and it worked ! finnally it worked !
So here it is actually, zergs look up to players like Stephano and Idra and the big cheese ones and will go multiple expos fast. The ideea was till now i always tried to seal off the entrance to the expo...no more. Go single base man ...single base all in while expanding = profit. BUT remembrer...always go with a probe and put some pylons close to your army while attacking and ALSO remember to retreat if its the case...worked for the last 3 matches for me |

I remember this last game in which I killed half of his drones with mass zealots and after quickly clearing up, he just flew with his turboroaches across the map and destroyed everything in terms of seconds because I couldn't afford enough sentries from just one gas.
To have same cost of roach more than double the DPS of a stalker army and be faster... I seriously think roach should be looked at. I do OK against stuff like 4gate. Because even if you survive a push tightly, you know you will have the economic upper hand. Mass roach smashes against your base violently and zerg will have the economic upper hand. Even stimpack timing pushes are easier to deal with. |
I can do it...and i dont even play zerg. |

Great you're all a bunch of protoss QQers all together, you know if we actually listened to groups of people like you this game would be pretty grim
zerg need some fixes... i have best unit combo possible Protoss seem to have this mental wall that roaches are overpowered and too cheap to make. One word FORCEFIELDS. I need not say more, get a good group of sentries have them on a hotkey, split the zerg army in half, block their reinforce path. DO NOT engage a roach army on open ground. Choke points are your friend and the Zerg's fear. If you're getting rushed. Yeah get a sentry early. The guardian shield is also very nice verse a large roach army. Zerg LOVE roaches, especially VS toss. So always expect them. Sentries, sentries, sentries. Stop calling OP just because you're too dumb to admit your own weaknesses, it's poisonous. I used to have this fear of Helions, and would always lose to them. I adapted, watched replays and now i always defend against them well, i did not cry about how op they are. Sounds like you don't even know what a sentry is. Honestly you guys, makes me wonder why you're even in platinum. |
U don't fear them because of the seen buff. hellions is barely used anymore is its not that much for you to fear. |
Great you're all a bunch of protoss QQers all together, you know if we actually listened to groups of people like you this game would be pretty grimzerg need some fixes... i have best unit combo possible Forcefields cost 50/100 UNITS ! wich guess what...are useless vs roaches. So its not really like you pull forcefields from a magic hat ~_~ |

I'm sorry but a protoss player who claims sentries are useless in an army composition vs the zerg's mass roach ball has got to be either a) trolling b) not very familiar with his/her chosen race or c) in utter denial so the said person can justify this sort of crying to oneself.
You're just being silly. Also if the Zerg is going for the 11-12 minute max roach route you have a good 8-9 minutes (the BO execution is not going to be perfect on your level or mine for that matter) where your pressure can be as little as a zealot / 2 zealots / zealot + stalker and that will force the zerg to do something else than pump out drones non-stop while having only the first 4 SLOW lings on the map. Or how about doing something other than sitting a thumb up your butt waiting for the roaches to come knocking on your door if you're so sure it's an inevitable loss for you? Again, 3 base max roach has a huuuuuge window when Z's only scouting / "map control" tools are slow lings and slow overlords. Actually I bet most of us zergs here in the lower leagues even pretty much automaton through the strategy without much scouting after spotting the FE so you have good chances to pull some funky strats (nastiest ones I've met usually involved early warp prism). Think you could deny 2 overlords slowly hoovering into your base after the 5 minute mark? Most maps have set safe spots for overlords where most everyone send theirs so it's not like you can't watch some replays and be 95% sure where the sucker is going to dive in and park a stalker / 2 sentries there and build your tech a bit farther from that spot. |

Well, I am a zerg player who almost never builds roaches, so in theory I know !@#$ about this. However, from watching pro games, the most successful players do have some answers to three-base roach pressure.
1. Harass/pressure. Force units early and you delay the roaches. 2. Sentries+forcefield. Forcefield is vital vs roaches. With good forcefield use, who comes out on top should be down to micro and positioning. Sure roaches have a much better dps than stalkers, but they have less range. Engage near any choke and push roaches back with the forcefields. Only a few will be able to fire, while the majority of your stalkers are still in range. 3. Both of the above. At the same time. Warp prism sentry drops are so annoying. If you can get into his main and forcefield the ramp, you have a decent chance to kill the roach warren or spawning pool. 4. Not so sure on this, but if you are that worried about heavy roach pressure, can you not build a few voids? and if all that fails, then . . . 5. Practice till you have the micro of a god. I saw a game where LiquidHero held off some pretty extreme roach pressure with immortal/warp prism play. He picked the immortals up and repositioned whenever they were about to die. One ended the game with 49 kills. What a boss. |
