What I expect (June stats, close to 50%): "Look how koreans are already adapting, foreign terrans just need to l2p."
What happened (May stats, 61% for zerg): "Korean win rates simply have too small sample size to be taken seriously. " Edit: this is also interesting (gsl S/A, GSTL winrates for TvZ for patch 1.4.3.) http://www.gomtv.net/records/index.gom?searchType=3&race=T&vsrace=Z&season=0&leaguetype=0&leagueid=0&gamever=1.4.3%282%29&mapid=0 It is 35% for terran. Not sure on which tournaments other than gsl are these korean stats based, but the gom.tv stats for gsl show much different story than korean win rates from TL |

Blizzard said that anything from 45% to 55% is acceptable. And in korea the winrates are terran's favored. So I think no nerf or buff is needed. Edit: Why shouldn't blizzard buff protoss in pvt. they have worse winrates than terran in tvz.(where terran is favored in both stats and by almost 5% internationally) |
|
Terran was always Korean race. Rest should just switch to Z/P
Didnt stop them from buffing queen. |
Yes I also heard them say that. However, international win rates show no race was actually way beyond 55% for more than a year (only zerg in zvp in jan 2012 - 58,5%). Regardless of that, blizzard released decent number of patches since july 2011. |
Yes, but its pushing it. The reason they said this is (partly) due to month to month fluctuations. So if a particular MU remains close to the 45-55 limit several times in a row that is (imo) cause to investigate further. |

I wish win rates weren't looked at too much, but rather we should look at the match-ups more thoroughly.
From a spectator view I loved TvZ before queen patch, but now it feels that the whole match-up has been dumbed down and it's just a bad match-up overall. Balanced or not? I don't want to take part in that, since it's not what concerns me most. |

Only KR is a good point. T is OK, just need a little more time. P looks balanced as well.
Damn that PvZ is 50 % :) awsome. QQ T QQ |
What I expect (June stats, close to 50%): "Look how koreans are already adapting, foreign terrans just need to l2p." GSTL is even smaller sample, so whats ur point? :) |

God I wish these pointless statistics were never made.
Every month it's the same thing From the race that has high percentage: - It's just because Korean Terran/Protoss/Zerg are so good! From the race with the low percentage: - !@#$ OMG IMBALANCE, CLEARLY. THESE 50 ARBITRARY GAMES SHOW IT! |
God I wish these pointless statistics were never made. But it is fun. I mean rage quits and whining about balance and providing a replay that clearly shows there mistake during the game IS fun. If you want to have fun treat all people who rage and complain as nothing. I don't think blizzard checks this fourms(Atleast I hope not) So they have no impact on blizzard decisions(in most cases). |
IIRC they have the same policy as with their WoW forums: devs read them sometimes, but they're not allowed to reply and say what they plan or don't plan to do. I cringe to think what would happen if Blizz listened to all the QQers. |

My point was that those Korean win rates that show "perfect" balance seamed very suspicious to me because I watched a lot of korean TvZ's in the past month. TL also has a thread about it and after going through a couple of pages I found out that for example, ESV Korean Weekly is included, which is TvZ: 20-13, but a lot of tournaments that were in zerg favor, TSL4 KR qualifier #1 TvZ: 26-42, TSL4 KR qualifier #2 TvZ: 25-38, TSL4 KR qualifier #3 TvZ: 16-24, or Code A qualifiers TvZ 14-36 weren't actually included. Still pretty low sample size but with those games sample size would triple and show aprox 60% for zerg and 40% for terran. Not sure if there is a conspiracy going on, aimed to pool the wool over our eyes, or an honest mistake. Regardles what actually is, I think blizzard does two things wrong. 1. They interfere in the game way too much with too frequent patches 2. At the same time, although they are active with patches, they don't provide us with nearly enough answers/data (which is based on much more games than korean and int win rates combined), which is in fact bad for the community. Players of "UP" race will feel frustrated, I for one don't like the double standards blizzard seems to have, based on following the win rate percentages and patches in following year, while players of the "OP" race will always try to discredit only stats we actually have, calling them worthless. So blizzard kind of stirs the trouble and then they grab the popcorn and sit back.... And then David Kim appears in terran shirt for mlg interview and says siege tanks are too good against zerg. Makes you wonder if we are all a part of some twisted experiment.... |
