1 base siege viking contain BO.
|
This is an extremely strong TvT build that is neither all in nor economic so sort of middle ground but can be DEADLY if your opponent does not react correctly and end the game right there.
I myself got to diamond exclusively using this BO in TvT - it works wonders. This probably won't help for anyone diamond or above but for anyone who wants a BO thats guaranteed to get them to diamond enjoy! BO: Supply Event Action 10 Build Supply Depot 12 Build Barracks 13 Build Refinery 15 Barracks Finishes Constant Marine production & upgrade to orbital command 100 gas Build Factory 20 2nd Refinery OC finishes MULE/SCAN 3 Marines Built Add Reactor to Barracks Factory finishes Add tech lab Fact tech lab finishes Build tanks 100 gas Starport Starport finish build vikings 2nd tank finish siege mode Contain set Expand 100 gas starport |

This build is deadly given the current meta-game, where most Terrans go for the gas-less 1 Rax FE Build. It's a throw back to how TvT were played in the "old days", where it was a rush to get a tank, viking and some marines out to contain and expand behind it. I've lost a lot to this build since the new season, because I play all my TvT with the 1 Rax FE opener.
@Kachinsky, I liked the way Halby described his problems against this Tank push... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oA0Z0iuTDDk&feature=g-user-u And.. this is how he counters it... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GBzJyUxB7o&feature=g-user-u Anyway, you have to mix up your builds from time to time as well. |

You should add some replays to see it in action. Also, when would you push with this build? On what maps it works? For example, I'm pretty sure I would hold that type of build no problem if I go 1rax fe into bio on daybreak and you push around 8min (and I doubt you will push sooner). Basically, I played against 1 base marine tanks viking (or banshee) attacks when i 1 rax fe before and that sort of pushes can be held np if you send scv's just at the time he starts to siege. After that it is hard to get back into the game... But as I said, some replays would be nice. If you really went to dia using this build in TvT every time I'm sure you have a lot of replays. |

Ye, I've met this build on ladder a few times. First time I was like "holy****" and pulled all my scv's from the natural, losing quite a few. I was ready to gg but then I realised it might've been 1 base play and yes it was...
It's kinda good but a bit all-inish, imo. I mean you can't really recover if it goes wrong. |

Whether or not you like the build is irrelevant - the fact is (and this is fact) if you execute the build order correctly as I have stated then you WILL CERTAINLY get to at least diamond. I am not saying you have to use it but this is advice. Take it or leave it.
BTW its NOT an all in... you can double expand putting down first CC at 7 min and 3rd at 9 min... so even if you don't kill him outright... if you at least delayed his natural you are at an advantage. |

If you want to do siege tank contains I suggest skipping the viking and using a floating rax to give you vision for the contain. You can set it up a lot faster since you don't need to spend the gas on starport/viking. The contain is pretty much over once opponent gets vikings of course but rax/tank contain lets you get your expansion up and mining way before your opponent giving you a huge economical edge. If your opponent reacts poorly you can even win the game with the push/contain.
That was working quite well for me in 1v1 masters like 6 months ago when i was very active. Took a long break (studying/working, no time to play) but I doubt much has changed to make it any less effective than what it was. Give it a shot. |
