Hello terrans.

I'm newbie in the bronze league and I wanted to ask in which situations I need to use nuke.
Because it looks useless to me(when you launch the middle enemy instantly knows
about it so I find it hard to surprise him)so I'd like to hear some advices about nukes.

If your opponent have bad multitasking they can be used to make the opponent have to move workers/army from multiple places at once. Either than that it is mostly used for positional play late game.

Nukes can be used against any race. It's only really usefull in the lategame because in the early/midgame, they are too easely spotted when the opponant has little ground to cover when searching. At this stage of the game, getting nukes also puts a huge strain on your other tech, like tanks, upgrades, medivacs etc.

During the lategame (4+ bases), it becomes a lot harder to find the dot quickly, and a lot of people will panic once nukes start flying around their army and bases. Plus you'll likely have enough gas income to afford nukes.

Some general tips on using nukes:
1) When you are getting attacked, a defensive nuke will force your opponant to retreat. This can give you more time to get defenses up, get a better position etc. You can always cancel the nuke by selecting the ghosts and hitting Escape if you want to chase his retreating army.

2) You can use nukes to 'block' certain areas on the map when you are attacking. This way you can force opponants to back off into a less favorable position or block them in their base while you take out one of their expansions.

3) You can lure enemy units into your nuke by placing one in between their army and a place where you are doing a drop. This might trick him to walk into it, or if he sees it, he has to go around it and your drop can do more damage.

Some specific pruposes:
TvT: You can use nukes to force him to unsiege his tanks.

TvZ: Usefull against broodlord compositions, giving you more time to get them vikings. It also kills all larva when it hits a hatchery, which is always nice.

TvP: Nukes can be used to take down pylons in his base, unpowering his production facilities.

Nuke can't really be compared to fungals and storms. EMP/Seeker missile are the terran AoE spells. Nuke is different beast all together.

Do you know that when you look at the nuke, obviously you see the f***ing huge red circle, but your opponent sees a tiny little red dot?

It is very hard to see when your enemy is nuking you - the dot is very very small.

My problem with nukes - it takes away a lot of focus. I just can't manage to handle the economy and and the ghosts at the same time.

Do note that your opponents focus will suffer from nukes aswell. It's not easy to find that small red dot especially in the late game when there's stuff everywhere. You can even test this, just shoot a nuclear missile in some insignificant corner of the map and then watch the replay. Your opponent's APM will drop to 0 as he tries to locate the nuke, fun stuff.

The nuke works when its not just one.Use 2 or 3 at the same time in different locations.You don't even need good micro just que up the commands from your base and start doing something else ;)

Isn't it harder to do multiple-pronged nukes than drops? It seems much costly either.
