how do you guys spend your money?

Hey guys!
After a break I decided to return to sc2 and played my placement matches. I got into platinum and after a couple of fail games as terran, which was my main race during the first couple of seasons, I decided to give zerg a try. My first impression was "OMG I have no idea what I am doing" and my second impression was the same. My main problem is that at the start of the game I can't spend my resources, in midgame i supply block myself a lot and at the lategame I float a lot of minerals and don't have gas and have tons of larvae. Is there a good way to NOT supply block yourself? The unit production is so wierd and fluctuates a lot that I either make the classic 1+s+VVVVVVV move or supply block myself :D Oh and ZvZ is a nightmare to play really don't know how you guys coop with that:D I would appriciate any help:) |

Your hatches are a direct indicator to how much supply you will need and when. An overlord takes around 20 seconds (19?) to make which is half way through an inject. Most people will use the larva that's made after the injects round has been used up as a couple of overlords for however much supply you will need.
I can make good guesses because my inject style requires me to check my hatch on the main screen, rather than the units selected bar at the bottom, regularly. 8 supply per overlord, 4 larva per inject, 1-2 extra larva made in between the injects. From there you have to make an educated guess as to how many overlords you'll need. Roaches, Ultras, infestors, and Hydras all take up way more supply than lings and drones, so plan your overlord count accordingly through larva:supply ratio's. That's the complicated way of thinking what I do through. Really I just guess based along those lines of thinking but my guesses are more accurate now. |
