Hey guys, simple question here:
How do you deal with turtling in TvT? I know I am bad but I lost 2 games to retarded turtling. I took 5 expensions got all the upgrades, built racks, factories etc and still couldn't break a 2 base terran. Both games the enemy bases were littered with turrets and bunkers everywhere plus tanks, marines cloackshees. And no matter how many units I threw at them I couldn't get in due to the ramps... I even tried mass ravens and nukes... |

You had the entire map for yourself. You don't HAVE to attack. He couldn't have replenished his army if he had attacked you. Also, use siege tanks..

Past a certain point... marines become worthless... so if you are a player who likes heavy bio you have to start gradually replacing marines with large groups of marauders and your own siege tanks (to hold the line).
But yes siege tank very good unit TvT... recommended to have tank viking. |
this. And I hope for your sake that you sacked a good bunch of SCVs. Ive been "ahead" lots of times but died simply because I had too many SCVs and too few units that, you know, kill stuff? If you have 5 bases, only mine minerals from 3 (3x16 SCVs) and take all gases (total of like 60-70) use MULEs on the rest. Also you dont HAVE to kill your opponent if you have him trapped. Just make a gazillion production facilities to instantly reproduce your stuff and keep throwing it at him until he is mined out. 2 bases only lasts for so long. |

I find hard to belive someone could turtle against a terran player that has bases over the map. Terran just got so much siegebreakers.
First off why didnt you use the most obvius option , ghosts and nuke. If you count the huge splashradius , you can safely nuke out of range of siege tanks and hit them then just move your siege tanks in when their dead of out of siege mode and slowly push em back. Or if you went sky terran then simply nuke the turrets. You could also make lots of battlecruiser some viking and a couple of raven. Yahamato the turrets and use pdd against leftover turrets and vikings. lastly if you have lots of siege tanks of your own and a reactored starport you can easely make a siege bridge.Just make 4 medivacs . Scan the side of hes base (where there is no entrance) perhaps there is a tank or 2 defending there , but nothing to make a kill zone. So just drive all your tanks to the cliff to hes base and scan , your tank mode tanks will kill the tanks defending. Siege up and rescan , your tanks will clear out the turrets , now just use vikings to spot for tanks. Ferry some siege tanks into hes base with medivacs at a time. ussually the defender suisides into your death zone at this point . But if not then you will half hes base. Anyway when your playing and suddenly notice your decently ahead of your opponent then do like me and build either battlecruisers or nukes to finnish the game. Wich option depends on what the opponent got. If he has loads of vikings then ghost is the superior option. If he has cloaked banchee , then BC FTW |

when SCVs are that high u can either: kill them, or build many many production building so that u produce all ur army at once. with good micro drops and camping u will win

Or, if you're fast enough. Just 1base and make tanks and marines out of 2 barracks 1 factory, and then float 1 barrack to the enemy base(or build one proxy)to give you superior vision. This lets you skip Vikings and you can either commit heavily to these units or expand.
This is pretty much instant-win vs fast expanding greedy Terrans. They won't have tanks in time and you will have as many marines as they do. I've won with this without losing a sinlge unit :D and I'm a plat-nub. In all other cases, if he turtles in his base, vikings quickly and make sure you have enough tanks to deal with a counterattack. Simple make sure to dominate the air, have the sight advantage, and expand freely. Watch out for drops though, if you're making Vikings already, pull 2 off and have them patrol a few clicks away from your base, at any likely drop-pattern. |
