Starcraft 1 Vs Starcraft 2

I wonder if one day we will see a custom map-mode where we can choose between 6 races and figth with them.
I would love to see a figth between SC1 zerg, with those old hydras, lurkers, defilers against the new Sc2 zerg, with roach, infestors, etc...
Same applies for Terrans and Protoss, would be very very interesting in my opinion.
Do you think that would be possible?

Without a doubt, it will just take a lot of data editor tinkering and of course not all SC1 units will be importable without some 3D assets being created by the 3D designer community for the retro units that make no appearance in SC2 such as Protoss Corsairs, toss dragoons, etc...

Well true, but most of units are already there:
-Mutalisk:same, just change stats.
-Zealot: same, just change stats.
-Hydralisk: same, just change stats, make it a bit smaller.
-zerling: same, just change stats.
-Lurker: is already in the game, in the editor.
-Medic: is already in the game, in the editor.
-Firebat: make a small version of firebat? or use same marine unit, paint in red and change attack type.
-Reaver: take infestor and change colour and make skin looks metallic.

etc....
Im aware for some units will be difficult, to desing in 3D, but lets be honest, models in Sc2 are not quite complicate talking about number of poligons and so, they are a bit simple. People make 3D design for other games/mods that are by far much more complicate.

AS I said, in my opinion, a SC1 vs SC2 mod will be as awesome as guns+chainguns.

yes but the new one is bigger, the old firebat had size of a marine. So I think some modifications would be needed.

Are you sure about the new races will eat the old ones? So far I think old zerg will eat new ones with no problem. As for Terran im not so sure, since they are pretty much similar race, but for example wraiths are much beter unit than banshes+vikings. And old nuclear weapon was much more powerfull and old Wise Vezel.
For protoss aswell, consider the reaver, old dragon damage was bigger than stalker and they also had a shield regenerator as building.....

I'd love just a melee conversion so it's just like SC1 melee without the Sc2 units, adding the SC2 ones would just make it unbalanced.

BW-units path differently, targetting is different, the general combat AI is different. You would have to put so much work into this that it would just not be doable within reasonable time.

Yeah I don't think anyone is talking about that much details.

Not a complete conversion, why do that when we can structure of a base and just modify the main changables?

SC1 Zerg with T1 hydralisk with 1 supply, and lurkers would beat the crap out of SC2 Zerg :) But i must say it used to be more balanced that way.

Indeed™, then again, BW had more years under it's belt, SC:2 is quite balance, but not divine balance (yet)

yeah, ill bet people will be in 6 years time "remeber when people could mass thors and kill whole armies with an AoE spell?" haha that would be such lolz.
