The towering Colossus is a Protoss robot design dating back to the bloody conflicts of the Kalath Intercession. It strides across the battlefield on four tall, slender legs that allow it to cross steep elevations with ease. The Colossus’ heavily armored hull carries two powerful Thermal Lances, with one on each side of its body. The robot’s beam attack cuts a broad swath across its targets, making the Colossus an ideal anti-infantry weapon. Unlike most other Protoss robots, the Colossus was created purely for destruction. Manufacturing Colossi has been outlawed for centuries, but the increasingly desperate war against the Zerg has forced the Protoss to revive the line.

Colossus
General Strategy
- Massive armored unit that can attack ground targets.
- Able to attack from very long range.
- Devastating to groups of infantry.
- Cliff Walk allows it to traverse elevations in terrain, like Reapers.
- It is so massive that it can be engaged by anti-air structures and units.
Upgrades
- Extended Thermal Lances: Passive increase to the Colossus’s attack range.
Countermeasures
VS Terran
- Launch Vikings; their long air-to-air range will make it easy to bring the Colossi down.
- Engage with Banshees.
- Build Thors and use their 250mm Strike Cannon ability.
VS Zerg
- Spawn Corruptors or Mutalisks to engage the Colossi safely.
- Use Infestors to Mind Control the Colossi – preferably after distracting them.
- Spawn Ultralisks. Their high damage, armor, and health will allow them to survive the Colossi onslaught. Be sure to research Chitinous Plating and Anabolic Synthesis.
VS Protoss
- Use Void Rays to engage Colossi safely.
- Focus-fire them with Immortals.
- Build Carriers or Phoenix fighters.

Most toss unit have been nerfed and still cost a lot of money when the cheap stuff turn toss to goo.
most of my games against terran and zerg are all the same
Terran= mass marine medivac then transition in to battle cruiser if they get the chance
Zerg=6 pool transition into bainings transition into mutas with infestor
p.s I LOVE HOW 100 MARINES GO DOWN TO LIKE 6 COLLUSUS
Phoenix - ability Power overload is gone. Attack on ground units is gone.
Mothership - ability Time bomb, Planet cracker and blackhole is gone. Healt 850/350 and enegry 300 is decreased to 350/350 and 200 energy. useless.
Zealot - shiels is decreased from 60 to 50. (i thing, damage is decreased too)
Void ray - 3 levels rays and power is gone.
Stalker - health 120/60 (=180) decreased to 80/80 (=160) and power is gone. (marauders and marines rip him, no chance)
Protoss have weak and costly units, terran have cheap and powerfull units.
I love colossi.
Range is not insane, siege tanks range is huge as well. Micro your battles and even a colossus will go down.
Balance is good, as always, in Blizzard's games.
Next time you question balance? Why is it that not like 80 percent of the players pick all the same race.
And the wins and players per race are all evenly balanced, with maybe 1 percent margin.
And while we're at it lets nerf the hell out of toss and force people to play only terran and zerg

IMO the game is nice and balanced as it is. The guys at Blizzard put a lot of effort into ballance and they did a very good job at it.

As far as i know, this was a cancelled Broodwar upgrade wich made the Ultralisk move faster, but Blizz was thinking like: How can we annoy oldschool zerg players more? We make the ultralisk a horrible unit!
