Ghost

Born with incredible psionic potential, these individuals are recruited, quarantined, and put into training by the government from childhood. Ghosts learn to channel their psionic energies to augment their natural physical strength and endurance. They are rightly feared for their preternatural sniping ability with the C-10 Canister Rifle and their advanced stealth maneuvering. Ghosts can be equipped with psionically powered Personal Cloaking devices that allow them to become virtually undetectable by enemies without specialized sensory equipment.

Field Manual

  • Special ops unit that can attack both air and ground targets.
  • Can eliminate biological targets using high-caliber Sniper rounds.
  • Their EMP rounds allow them to wipe energy reserves from enemy units, or deal damage to protoss shields. If you hit cloaked units with these, they will be revealed for a few seconds.
  • Authorized to call in nuclear strikes.
  • Use them to support your troops in battle, create diversions, or take out key units/structures.
  • Can go inside bunkers for protection and a range increase.

Ghost Academy Upgrades

  • Personnel Cloaking: Allows Ghosts to become invisible.
  • Moebius Reactor: Increases the starting energy of Ghosts by 25.
  • Arm Silo With Nuke: Builds a tactical nuclear missile.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Build Missile Turrets and deploy Siege Tanks in key positions around your base. Remember to add your Orbital Command to a control group to have fast access to its Scanner Sweep ability.
  • Shoot an EMP round at the area where you suspect the enemy Ghost is hiding. If you can see him, send some Sniper rounds his way.
  • Use high-damage units to kill them quickly
VS Zerg
  • Create a few Overseers or build Spore Crawlers in key spots around your base.
  • Spawn an Infestor and use its Fungal Growth ability on the area where you suspect the Ghost is. This will make him visible. If you can see him, Neural Parasite also does the trick.
  • Use high-damage units to kill them quickly.
  • Bring multiple Overseers to deal with cloaked ghosts, as they can easily snipe down one or two Overseers.
VS Protoss
  • Get Observers or build Photon Cannons around your base.
  • Have your High Templar cast a Psi Storm on the area where you suspect the Ghost is spotting the nuke calldown. If you can see him, use Feedback.
  • Use the Phoenix Graviton Beam to lift the Ghost and cancel the nuke calldown.

Why do the terrans only have nuclear bombs and don't have thermo-nuclear bombs?[hydrogen bombs(which are much more powerful than nuclear bombs)].

I would seriously recommend re-evaluating the Snipe nerf - I can understand how it was too powerful against Brood Lords and Ultralisks, but its original damage made it general-purpose, a viable opening in TvT instead of a Factory (for sniping enemy marines) and, above all else, it was actually great fun to use... not to mention it is very, very difficult to get the Professionals Have Standards achievement now.

To address the balancing problem against Zerg, I would like to suggest 47 (-22 vs. Massive)... or 25 (+22 vs. Non-Massive) if you want to disguise the fact there's a negative modifier in there. If you want a counterbalance to their increased damage, the Ghost HP could be reduced from 100 to 90, so an enemy Ghost can still die in 2 Snipes.

1 Nuke destroy like 7-8 depos if tye depos are close . 2 Nukes destroy like 3-4 gates if are close u chose how to use the ghost :)

@Legion: Just what is so wrong about giving Terran more units that are actually good in big, direct battles? Why must every good Terran unit have its damage nerfed? Why is Terran supposed to be the only race that is weak in the late game and be owned by Broodlords and Toss deathball?

Reading other comments and my own point of view i think:

Reduse cost 175/100 gas - because the marine train is holding too much, in this minute of game, we are to the more expensive units as well...

Make the whole model of the ghost a little bigger, because when clock mode is on and really in the middle of terranes army, with all those new shiny good looking effects and 3D models it's VERY HARD to feed back them... I LOVE FEED BACK AND I USE IT OFTEN AND I AM GOOD IN THIS!

I also agree EMP should cost 125 energy in all cases!!!

Don't shrink the area it will make it useless....

Nukes need more damage OR 10-15 secs to land not 20...

@LGI: i think, the ghosts are good, as they are.. though the 175/100 cost would be nice, i think. you gotta train a little to hit them with feedback, but even if they were bigger... if there are more than one, it always gets hard to feedback them all. better cast psistorm and run ^^
btw, ghosts are good in lategame, for example, if you nuke 2 expansions while fighting in the middle. they often didnt even hear that "nuke detected" sound. but who uses them nowadays this way?

OP against Protoss. EMP is not counter on casters, but on Protoss race! Half healt of army is down, immortal ability is down, sentry abilitys is down and HT abilitys is down. Wake up Blizz!

1. EMP is single target. No area!
or
2. EMP cost 125 energy and must be upgrade in ghost academy 200/200.
or
3. Units protected Guardian Shield can not be affected EMP. (add more micro. terran must focus sentry. not only click on E, click on toss army and Atack move and GG.)

@Ozzy: I agree, Ghosts are perfect units in mid and late game, taking down all shields of Protoss' army units, making the Protoss vs. Terran a really hard matchup...at least for me. Protoss players must perfectly micro units so that the entire Protoss' army shields wouldn't be down with 2 or 3 EMP rounds, while Terran players need no micro... and when it comes down to the fact that Terran can just stim-hit-and-run then Protoss' units will eventually be too close to eachother. It's just too hard to feedpack all of the Ghosts who are sitting somewhere in the middle of Terran's army before you are about to engage, as Ghosts can also simply snipe them down. I think the EMP round's area should be nerfed and the energy cost bigger, as at the moment EMP rounds deal 100 dmg to shields and and -100 to energy instantaneously while High Templar Psionic Storm ability makes 80 damage over 4 seconds.

I really just wanna nuke the crap out of it!

Waaaaay underused and still they are so good, i.e. snipe vs bling bust(or everything really), EMP= anti DT(and anti protoss ^^), nukes kinda underpowered in SC2 imo, i remember...
BW=OMFG A NUKE?!(2/3rd of the maximum Hit Points of the units and buildings in range, or 500 damage - whichever is greater.)

SC2=LoL, nuke? ( 1 f*cking nuke won't even kill a pylon FFS!)

Ghosts are way better than before.They don't come very late in the game because you require to build last tech structure.And they are very useful,no matter which enemy you're facing.Versus Terran and Zerg,Snipe(and maybe EMP to spell casters).And versus Protoss,well,EMP of course.So,using Nukes is much more viable than before.But Nukes are waaaaaaaaaay nerfed and torn down.Even if you manage to land them,your opponent will have most likely pulled all the units away.Thus,you are restricted to destroy key structures.

Question:Occular Implants are off-game completely? I mean,their sight isn't better than original StarCraft and Brood War?

the nuke is under powered it should obliterate everything in the center of the blast and make the radious large and to counter the fact that it's OP the could give similar abilities to other races because right now it's more of a bomb than nuke
