Larva

The creatures most similar to the original Zerg insectoids are the Zerg Larvae. Each Larva contains within it the genetic makeup of every other Zerg strain available to the Hive. A young Hive will have only the genetic codes for the most basic of Zerg strains, such as the Drone, but as the Hive grows and develops new structures, the Larvae can expand its library of genetic strains. With a command from the Overlords, Larvae will enter a pupal state and begin the metamorphosis into whichever strains the Hive requires.

@Blaze: 19 per Hatchery Larva production stops after 3 - but you can inject up to 19 if you need fast reinforcement after a 200 vs 200 battle. ;)

Little hint: In zvz, if you get banelings into an enemy zerg economy line and blow em up on thier workers, you'll notic that they ANNIHILATE thier Larva too, since they do extra dammage vs. light.. One baneling may easily kill every larvae, so it will be a sad sad day for your opponent if you destroyed the 12 larvae he was gonna pump out a ton of roaches with, to defend his base and safe himself from a bitter defeat..
