Queen

During the first Zerg invasion, Queens were able to spawn a variety of parasites that infested Terran structures to create suicide troops under the Overmind’s control. In the aftermath of the Brood War, the new Queens are tougher creatures who now play a limited command role nurturing Zerg nest sites. Their new morphology hints at the incorporation of Terran or Protoss DNA, or perhaps even the Zerg-altered genes of the Queen of Blades herself. This evolution implies that a widespread change is taking place within the Zerg hierarchy, a redistribution of power that will make the Zerg even more difficult to combat.

General Strategy

  • Support unit.
  • Early-game anti-air; valuable for base defense.
  • Can improve production speed with Spawn Larva ability.
  • Can improve mobility by spawning Creep Tumors, which spread Zerg creep. Creep allows structures to be built farther away and makes Zerg move faster while standing on top of it.
  • Can also use Creep Tumors to slow enemy expansion, as non-Zerg races can’t build on creep.
  • Can heal units or buildings with the Transfusion ability.
  • Can burrow with the Burrow upgrade.

Tech Lab Upgrade

  • Burrow: Allows the unit to take cover underground, rendering it unable to attack. A burrowed unit is invisible unless revealed by detectors or effects.

Countermeasures

VS Terran
  • Use high damage ground units, like Ghosts and Marauders, to quickly overwhelm a queen.
VS Zerg
  • Quick, inexpensive, high-damage attackers like Zerglings can swiftly cut a Queen down if they are able to break through base defenses.
  • Thanks to their resilience, Roaches can outlast Queens’ base defenses to reach and defeat them.
VS Protoss
  • Phoenixes, particularly in groups, can harass and slay Queens functioning as base defenders with their Graviton Beam attack.
  • Dark Templar can sneak into bases and quickly dispatch Queens provided they have no detection units (such as Overseers).

Current picture in the section "VS Protoss" should be changed. Current picture showing attack of Marines versus Queen doesn't demonstate the Protoss abilities (Phoenixes or Dark Templars). ;)

Blizzard why isn't the creep tumor addressed as an ability ?? I really think there are a few mistakes that aren't being addressed for the units stats.. I know it's not a huge deal but i still want to get the right fact when it is needed :)

Btw where does blizzard have an overview of all buildings/structures build time and cost just like the overview of all units http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/game/unit/

@Scrycopse: Make sure you're on creep next time, queens on creep are faster than colossi.
And remember that queens can heal one another with the transfuse ability: just select all your queens, hit "t" and click on units low on life.

@Scrycopse: You should mix in ultra's to act as tanks. They take the blunt and the queens to heal them. With some hydra's you have one strong deathball.

The Qeen is the most important zerg unit of them all in SC2. She boosts your army with more than twice the production capabilities, and she spreads the very important creep highway, and shes the early defence of your base capable of fighting most units with the avesome tranfusion ability. Every good zerg got atleast 1 queen per hatch. Shes truly the "Heart of the Swarm" :)

@Kamon: I think u missunderstod me. I mean like the aouto repair button the terran has. So you can like right click on the larva spitting button so that she do it when she got energy.

Just put your queen and the hatchery to the same hotkey. Double tap hotkey, V, click hatch and you're done. Easy mone- err larvae.

I think it would be nice if all the zerg ground units had their movement speed, on and off creep, listed.

Also, according to the numbers on this site, when you hold your cursor over the movement speed, zergling and queen have the exact same acceleration and turn rate. Seems strange, as zerglings are definitely faster than queens, especially off creep.

@BananaHurt: Yep, It is true that they move at same trun rate and acceleration, but so does the hydra and the roach, and most units in fact, so you are right but almost every unit has the 1000 acceleration, so its not really a problem. It is just the queen has a slow max move speed.

anyone tried to attack enemy base with queen army?
Login to rate
@reignytr:

yes! If you use a tunnel network you can negate the slow speed without creep, and they are quite good as well ^^ I just make 5 queens a hatchery all the time, and 20 queens are extremely powerfull XD

Hi all! I have heard somewhere that you can use your queens and give them a special command which makes them spawn larvae at the nearest hatcherie. Is this true? If so please reply if you know how to do it.

@RealitySucks: if you got your Queens on "hot key" CTRL+4 (for example) and you are dealing with combat or whatever else on the map.... You press "4" (select all your Queens) than press "v" (for inject Larvae) and then click on the minimap where your hatcheries are. The nearest Queen (with energy) will go to inject larvae automaticly by using only your minimap. So if you got more colonies (expansions) with Queen in each you can significanlty increase your Larvae spawn and still wathcing enemy or another stuff.
