Next Protoss Unit: High Templar
Previous Protoss Unit: Phoenix
The reunification of the Aiur Protoss and the Dark Templar has allowed the two groups to combine their divergent technologies, and their collaboration has produced astonishing new developments. The Void Ray is built around the newly developed prismatic core, which serves as a virtually eternal power source. When the Void Ray has locked onto a target and deployed its flux field projectors, it can shoot searing beams of energy that grow exponentially more powerful over time. Even heavily armored structures and warships have been incinerated by the Void Ray, leading some Terrans to believe that it will eventually replace the Carrier as the flagship of the Protoss fleet.

Units
Void Ray
General Strategy
- Armored craft that can attack air and ground targets.
- Highly effective against armored units.
- The damage of its Prismatic Beam increases the longer it attacks a target.
- When the Prismatic Beam is fully charged, you have a few seconds to start attacking a new target before you lose the full charged state. Keep them busy.
- Good for hit-and-run tactics against enemy mineral lines.
- Vulnerable against large numbers of enemy units.
- Void Ray sneak attacks against enemy headquarters can be devastating.
Countermeasures
VS Terran
- Launch Vikings; their long air-to-air range will make it easy to bring Void Rays down.
- Use large groups of Marines with Stimpacks and Medivac support.
- Build Missile Turrets around your Command Center as a temporary deterrent.
VS Zerg
- Spawn Mutalisks; be sure to focus fire.
- Assemble a large number of Hydralisks.
- Build Spore Crawlers around your Hatchery as a temporary deterrent.
VS Protoss
- Engage with Stalkers, research the Blink ability if you can.
- Phoenixes are great against Void Rays, which are too slow to outrun them.
- Build Photon Cannons around your Nexus as a temporary deterrent.

Bottom line, if you let someone mass a !@#$ tonne of Voids, then you deserve to lose
"Void rays are not OP"
"if the Protoss get to about 15+ Voids then it is almost always gg"
... so they are actually OP, I guess.
NOT FAIR!!
only number matters, but as i say Void never lies and one of my favorites units!
blizzard should lower their movement speed
Not to mention in an even larger group. I saw them easily destroy a huge army of BCs.
Hands down, the most imbalanced unit of the game.
corruptor = 150 min +100 gas = 250 resources
void ray = 250 min + 150 gas = 450 resources
mutas = 100 min + 100 gas = 200 resources
1. 9 corruptors = 250*9 = 2250 resources 5 void ray = 450*5= 2250 resources
2. 9 mutas = 200*9=1800 resources 4 void ray = 450*4=1800 resources
1.) 250+150 is not 450
2.) its difficult to mass corruptors or mutas because they take so much gas to build while void rays have quite a nicely balanced cost
i build roach hydra corrupter he build only voidray
i have 200 supply he have 160
and he win -.-
Zerg: Once you know that there are 'Rays on the field, throw down around 3/4 Spores and make Hydras.
Terran: Stim Marines, Missile Turret, done.
Have you ever tried to counter a large group of them?
