17/06/11: Why didn't I get an Authenticator prompt this time?
If you use an authenticator – and we hope you do – you may have noticed that an authenticator prompt does not appear with every login. We've recently updated our authentication system to intelligently track your login locations, and if you're logging in consistently from the same place, you may not be asked for an authenticator code. This change is being made to make the authenticator process less intrusive when we're sure the person logging in to your account is you, while still offering the same level of security.
We hope to continue improving the authenticator system to ensure the same or greater security, while improving and adding features to make having one a more user friendly experience. If you don't already have a Battle.net Authenticator attached to your account, don't wait until it's too late http://eu.battle.net/en/security/checklist

What is the Battle.net Authenticator?
The Battle.net Authenticator is an optional tool that offers World of Warcraft and StarCraft II players an additional layer of security to help prevent unauthorised access to their Battle.net account. The Authenticator itself is a physical "token" device that fits easily on a key ring.
Where do I get a Battle.net Authenticator?
The Battle.net Authenticator can be purchased directly from the Blizzard Store.
How does the Battle.net Authenticator work?
You must first associate the Battle.net Authenticator to a Battle.net account. Once the account has been linked, the Authenticator token will be required to log in to Battle.net account or any World of Warcraft or StarCraft II games attached to that account; when logging in, you will be prompted to supply a digital code generated by the Authenticator.
How do I associate a Battle.net Authenticator with a Battle.net account?
To associate the Battle.net Authenticator with a Battle.net account, follow the steps described on our Adding a Battle.net Authenticator page.
What is a digital code and where do I see it?
The digital code is a six-digit numeric code that is produced when you press the button on the front of your Battle.net Authenticator. Each code is unique and is valid only once.
Where do I enter the digital code when I log in to Battle.net, World of Warcraft, or StarCraft II?
After you enter the account name and password, you'll be prompted to provide the digital code from your Battle.net Authenticator. You must press the button on your Authenticator and enter the code it displays to complete your login.
Can I use a Battle.net Mobile Authenticator and a Battle.net Authenticator at the same time?
You can only have one Authenticator added to a Battle.net account at any given time.
Can I apply my Battle.net Authenticator to more than one account?
To help keep our players' Battle.net accounts as secure as possible, we've recently changed how Battle.net authenticators can be used. Going forward, Battle.net authenticators can now only be associated with one Battle.net account at a time. No changes are being made to how many game licenses a single Battle.net account can support. You can still have multiple World of Warcraft accounts under a single Battle.net account, for instance, and all game licenses linked with a Battle.net account will still be protected if an authenticator is in use.
Those of you who currently have more than one Battle.net account associated with a single authenticator will be able to maintain your existing set-up without needing to do anything. This change will only affect new authenticator attachments. But, if at some point you decide to detach the authenticator from any of your Battle.net accounts for any reason, you won't be able to re-attach it if it's already associated with another Battle.net account.
World of Warcraft Core Hound Pup Pet
How do I get the special Core Hound Pup pet for Authenticator users?
If you have a Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator attached to your Battle.net account, you'll find the Core Hound Pup item waiting for you in your in-game mailbox the next time you log in. Simply use the item to add it to your pet collection.
Can the Core Hound Pup help me in combat?
No, his bark is infinitely worse than his bite. The Core Hound Pup is a non-combat guard dog, trained to intimidate rather than eviscerate.
What if I remove my Authenticator?
If you remove the Authenticator from your Battle.net account, the Core Hound Pup will disappear from the pets collection of all of your characters after you log out of the game. You'll need to reattach an Authenticator to receive the pet again, at which point you'll find him in your mailbox once more. If you switch Authenticators while in-game, your pet will remain intact.
Which characters will receive the Core Hound Pup pet?
Each existing character on every World of Warcraft account associated with the Authenticator-protected Battle.net account will receive the Core Hound Pup pet, as will each character you create in the future while the Authenticator is attached.
In what regions is the Core Hound Pup available?
The Core Hound Pup is available to players on realms located in North America, Europe, and Korea. A Battle.net account is required in all of these regions in order to claim the pet.
Do I need to buy the Core Hound-themed Battle.net Authenticator to get the pet?
Nope. Any Battle.net Authenticator or Battle.net Mobile Authenticator product will do!

I used to have a key-fob authenticator as I did not have a phone which was able to download the mobile version. I too notice the code on the back rub off after excessive use, this code is NOT needed to remove your authenticator, only to register it to an account. So if you have noticed this has happened your best bet is to remove your authenticator and get a new one; unless you wrote the code down which will allow you to re-use the authenticator. If you don't you run the risk of having a lengthy phone call with Blizzard Billing and Support to remove it if you lose battery power to the key-fob or lose it.
I now have a phone able to use the mobile authenticator and experience no issues whatsoever with it, my girlfriend however did not. She has an issue with her phone and has to hand it back in for a replacement. She tried to log into WOW with no help, especially as you need your authenticator to log into forum support! If you get a phone authenticator take the serial number from your phone, you can use this to remove the authenticator. As my girlfriend did not do this there is other ways that Blizzard can try to help and she is now doing as they ask.
